Tks. Downloading.

If you don't mind, I'll direct those interested from you-know-where to this post.

Hey, Fatty! Glad to see you here again!
Okay, i'll get the (tar)ball rolling tonight.

Longing for playing with the Z w/ Debian! You'll save my life!

I did buy a new Sandisk 8G and tried installing again, but still got the same kernel panic issue. But I finally figured out what had been happening: I didn't press [2] while booting with uboot! So the issue is not CF related

[OT] not back to the place-you-know-where for some time, and only recently noticed you won't be back there. So see you here   . My wife is getting better now but the health issue is on me though ...

Sorry for keep you waiting.

At first I was trying to create the tarball on my C860 from the ground up. But now it does not have a working (yonggun) kernel yet, and I was terribly busy over this couple of weeks. May try to do that on my 3200 this weekend.

Hi ZDevil, any progress on this?

tux seems to be hinting that the CF recognition issue may have to do with the failure of the SD card to properly handle the CD installation image. My 1gb SD also failed.
[Well, I suddenly remember that the same 1gb SD card failed to install Debian EABI too!]
So, perhaps ...
-- try a different and smaller SD
-- restore the CF to its original partition state as descibed in Meanie's website, and just let the Debian installer reformat & repartition it?

Tried 4 different brand SD (though all 1G). Even tried deleting all partition in emergency mode and let the installer do the job, still no joy. A bit discouraged

EDIT: now gathering all SD from different dc and try them one by one. Hope I still have a <1G one

Maybe there is another way of installing like doing a NAND backuo/restore and copying the data directly to the CF in another linux machine...
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=167657\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

Well, if only our internal CF can be recognized and mounted by the debian kernel

yeah yeah..for those of us with supported drives

Me too... My int CF is not a popular one, and I've got exactly the same issue as yous. Thinking about replacing it with a sandisk.

... more performance will be on its way ...

Great! With this version and no o/c I've already got nearly the same speed as the old version with o/c! And you're saying I'll get even more performance! Wow!

I flashed to 5.4.2 base. The version showed 5.4.2 (Sally). And the Pretec wifi ... has the same result. Error code 64 on dmesg. cardctl ident is the same. cat /var/lib/pcmcia/stab showed:

Socket 0: Agere systems Hermes-I based PCMCIA wireless Adapter

Any updates on this yet?
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=160971\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

Meanie has uploaded new 5.4.2 for testing. I have tested it together with hdimage-full.tgz 5.4.1beta and got same result. Since I've flashed back to 5.3.3 again, can you try also?

meanie, if you read this, I just went to "http://www.tyrannozaurus.com/feed/pdaXii13/akita/" and that page says pdaxii13-akita is version 5.4.2
So I went to your page here:
http://www.users.on.net/~hluc/myZaurus/pdaxii13.html and downloaded "pdaXii13-custom.tgz", then upgraded.
Everything went well, but when I opened a console and typed "version", I got this:
pdaxii13 build5.4.1 "Sally"

Is this version number correct, or do I actually have version 5.4.1?

Thank you,
Jon

EDIT: Additional information.
I upgraded from version 5.3.4
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=160970\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

I want to know also. I installed 5.4.2 initrd.bin & hdimage-full.tgz 5.4.1beta. I'm doing so as I expect the new 5.4.2 can solve hermes wifi issue, but I have the same issue as before, so not sure if it is 5.4.2 already.

The new version is very nice. If only I could have my wifi work on it ... No matter what, thanks you very much Meanie!

[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=160794\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

Here are 5.3.3 outputs:

cardctl ident

  manfid: 0x0156, 0x0002
  function: 6 (network)
Socket 1:
  product info: "", "TWTTI", ""
  manfid: 0x000a, 0x0000
  function: 4 (fixed disk)

cat /var/lib/pcmcia/stab
Socket 0: Pretec CompactWLAN Card 802.11b
0   hermes   orinoco_cs   0   wlan0
Socket 1: ATA/IDE Fixed Disk
1   ide   ide-cs   0   hda   3   0

Also attached everything in /etc/pcmcia. (in bz2)

Can you post your

Tried 5.4.1 but Pretec Wifi CF remained fail. Same symptom (error code 64 ???). Deleted all hermes files in etc and still fail. Seems we Pretec users have to stick with 5.3.3 with no further upgrade
