Software / Java Install On C3100 - Noob Alert
« on: February 07, 2006, 08:32:23 am »

Circumvented my problem by flashing to Cacko 1.23 ROM. Jeode installed and java apps run without a problem. Never did find out what my problem was under the stock Sharp ROM
arawata

Does this mean that Cacko comes with Java or that you found it somewhere in an ipk
format and added it?

If the latter can you share the URL, please?

I would like to load jsword and thingamablog and need Java for them.

Thanks!  doc

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Gnomesword

Updated gnomesword_2.1.1_armv5tel.ipk and gtkhtml_3.0.10_armv5tel.ipk to fix:
1. the crash on startup when there is no configuration data in .gnomesword
2. the crash when typing characters the studypad

Anyone download the ipks before this post should download and install these 2 packages again.

Should I expect this to work on my C1000 under Cacko?

What about JSword?

Thanks!  doc

C1000/3x00 Hardware / A Few Doubts Wi-fi Cf

socket communications has announced a 54g CF coming in february for $99 that they claim (according to press release) works with Linux.

AmbiCom Wave2Net 54 Mbps 802.11g + b Wireless CompactFlash Card
$59.99 at CompUSA:
http://www.compusa.com/products/product_in...4148&pfp=BROWSE

$58.99 at Amazon.com:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000A2AJD...glance&n=172282

Anyone tried one of these, yet?

Could not find any info on the Ambicom web site as to the chipset.  Sadly they do
not indicate Linux support, don't know if Bill Gates is an investor.

The sole Amazon review was:

"The WL54-CF CF wireless adapter eats a lot of battery and slows down the
PDA's performance. There's no way to turn off the wireless radio when you
don't need it or when the battery is low. No power saving mode, either."

Will JSword run on the C1000?  (I know it requires Java which appears to be OK: http://www.users.on.net/~hluc/myZaurus/custom.html#java

I have QPSword running on my C1000 but am not real happy with the way it looks and
it is quite old (2003).

JSword seems to be more current.

Will have to see to Java and then try JSword.

Stuff I use frequently:  QPSword

Question, please?

Why QPSword vs JSword?

Is QPSword better?

Will JSword run on the C1000?  (I know it requires Java which appears to be OK: http://www.users.on.net/~hluc/myZaurus/custom.html#java )

What is the process of loading either QPSword or JSword on a C1000, please?

I really need to get one or the other loaded and running asap.

Thanks!  doc

lets work on this slowly

OK, that worked ...

Now I guess I need to download and install the Oxygen Software app
to get the two to actually communicate with one another to share files,
etc?

I'd also like to be able to sync the calendar and address book.

Thanks! doc

/etc/bluetooth/givepin contains the pin number that your Zaurus will automatically give to another Bluetooth device if pairing from the Zaurus. givepin is a script which must print out a string of the format "PIN:1234" where 1234 is the pin number, so you only change that part of the script to change to pin number.

apl: do *#0000# on nokia phone - it will display firmware version. If you have it older then 5.50 then you need to upgrade it to get good working BT.
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=112281\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

Thank you ... problem is that I am not certain where to enter this code.

I tried from the main screen and it just says Model Number  Nokia 6255i

We tested it at the Alltel office and it connected with the salesman's
Blackberry fine.

I think the problem is at the C1000 where there is a Passcode.

At the moment I can pair with my Nokia 6310i - least wize the nokia recognises the Zarius attempt to connect, I say yes on the Nokia and it seems to work. However the Nokia drops the connection about a minute later???

May I ask a favor?

As Bluetooth established the Pairing Devices link from your Nokia to
your Zaurus did it request a Passcode?

I am trying to link a Nokia 6255i to a C1000 and the Passcode request
has me stumped.

I have a Socket Bluetooth CF Card in my C1000.

When I try to access it from my cellphone using the Paired Devices
mode the Zaurus is recognized and then I am asked for a "passcode".

Anyone have any idea what this might be or where I might find or
reset it on the C1000 with CACkO?

I have several c1000 units in MINT, truly flawless condition including charger, and working CF socket bluetooth cards.

Just to say that I have purchased one of the C1000's and it was delivered
promptly and "diceone" was a delight to do business with.

Now if I can figure out the Bluetooth password so I may Pair with my
Nokia 6255i ...

firstly, you need to setup up the bluetooth permission.

How, please, does one do this?

I have a C1000 with CACkO and cannot even fine a menu for
Bluetooth on it.

My Nokia 6255i does find the Zaurus and asks for a password.  ???

Help?  Thanks!  doc

I have a question: What kind of case do you use when you travel with it? Do you use one of those Nite Ize cases that attach to your hip?

Does anyone make an aluminum or magnesium case with a leather-like
or cloth/nylon covering that would really defend the C1000 well without
being impossibly bulky or heavy?
