SanDisk Connect Plus - Driver
« on: July 01, 2004, 06:51:48 am »
As the older SanDisk Connect card (Prism 2.5 chipset) seems to be no longer available (at least here in Germany), the SanDisk ConnectPlus needs to get more attention.

Unfortunately, SanDisk has changed the chipset to Prism 3 - and this needs
1. a different driver (prism2_cs.o does not handle)
2. the hostap_cs driver supports Prism3 - but not (yet) the special enabling sequence for the SanDisk card

The memory part can be used by installing a special configuration file (as described in this forum and the how-tos).

So we (Maslovsky and me) have set up a special discussion forum where I want to invite developers (a little kernel expertise and the ability to compile kernels is required) to work specifically on this driver.

This forum is located at:
http://www.dsitri.de/phpBB2/viewforum.php?f=21

It is also recommended to subscribe the hostap mailing list http://lists.shmoo.com/mailman/listinfo/hostap, as the core driver developers are there.

There is a patch to hostap_cs 0.2.0 available.

Please refer to http://www.dsitri.de/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=80#80

We have progress in making the card working!

Anton Maslovsky (thanks!!!) has provided a description how to compile hostap_cs and apply the sandisk patch. I have put the howto at

http://www.dsitri.de/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=105

Unfortunately he has to report that the card is still not working. So the patch needs to be improved.

Yes, the driver, which support this card is included in Cacko ROM 1.22, but some configuration file changes are still needed.

Since I no longer have this card, I coulnd't make it work out of the box.

I can't find any resources on the web where someone has this card successfully working.

Still looking.

One thing I can't really figure out.  The card installed in WinXP (not easily mind you) and works fine.

What's the need to reflash the card to be used in linux?  Or is there?

I tried Cacko ROM 1.22 (nice ROM btw:P) but I could not get the card to work. I uncommented the "include" line, but unfortunately no luck (yet?).
dmesg spits out quite a lot of messages stating there is no primary firmware...
