Zepo Moreover
« on: June 17, 2004, 09:32:42 am »
I have the java program Zepo installed on my SL-C760 (I know! It\'s not supposed to be run on the 7x0 series). I have been using it to download the RSS news feeds, and then viewing them in Opera.
When Zepo downloads news feeds, it appears to access a commercial news service company called Moreover. It was working fine up until a few days ago, when the downloaded news stories were replaced with messages stating that \"Headline functionality has been disabled from your intranet. Please contact your system administrator to report this fault.\"
Has anyone else had this problem? Is the Moreover service for a limited time only? Do I need to contact Moreover to pay for the resumption of service? How does one order service from Moreover? Does it really cost $6000/year?
Being able to download news feeds and then view them offline (while I take the train to work) is one of the best aspects of having a Zaurus.

The author of the program did not respond to my request for more information regarding the problem. However, one can still create a file with your own list of free RSS feeds. I now read free RSS feeds of NY Times and Yahoo News among others. This is really an excellent program. It is a shame that the author does not maintain since it would be nice to have it support ATOM and RSS 2.0 feeds.
I was able to alter the program to make it work with J2ME (it comes configured for Jeode), and changed the display size so that it now works full screen 640x480 on my SL-C760.
This is still one of the best programs on my Zaurus that I use almost everyday to download and read webpages and RSS news feeds offline.
