Pre 3.5.2 Checklist?
« on: March 30, 2005, 09:08:37 am »
Hi there,

I'm looking to finally upgrade my OZ 3.3.5 on my SL5000 and was wondering what I should watch out for.  Is 3.5.2 at the state where I can just install it and live with it, not needing to upgrade packages?  Or, is it like some of the older, now that it's installed you need to upgrade x, y, and z packages.

I've gone through a lot of the postings and am now wondering:

1. Does the camera actually work?  I've seen postings on both sides of the issues, and this one is a dealbreaker for me.

2. This version syncs properly with Linux Qtopia right?  I've read about the Windows sync issues, and seen postings around the web about a couple of Linux sync problems.  I just want to use my existing usbnet connection to sync.

two choices:
1. install OZ 3.5.2, add "upgrades" feed and upgrade
2, wait 1-2 weeks for 3.5.3 which is better then 3.5.2

my proposition: 2
OpenZaurus 3.5.4x Release Manager
OpenEmbedded, Ångström, Poky developer
My website

Misc embedded hardware.

I think 3.5.3 is supposed to be out real soon now™, 3.5.2 needs to be installed and then you need to install the service-release-1 package in the feed to update it to fix a few bugs that were found after its release, 3.5.3 shouldnt require this.

Camera works great, You need the driver modules for it that are specific for your device and opie-camera.

I've synced my Z with Evolution under Gnome without any trouble, and Qtopia Desktop under OS X, Not Qtopia under Linux tho. Id think it would work.
