I am new to the Zaurus and not very linux literate so be kind in responces. I have an SL5500 running sharp rom 3.10. I have installed a Meritline MWL-672 WIFI card. I have upgraded to Opera 7.30. The card worked well, I installed it, configured the network settings and I can surfe the web very nicely. The setup has proven very stable so far.

Jon,
You have done the hard part already. Getting the network up and running.
1) Sharing Files, the Stock Zaurus (ROM 3.10) has a couple of ways of doing file sharing.
1a)If you have linux machines in your house, you can mount the linux drives via the NFS client which is built into the Zaurus ROM.
1b)If you are a Windows Person (or even Mac), the Zaurus supports Samba (or SMB) file sharing, and can be setup as a Windows network server, such that the Windows (and Mac) can act as clients mounting your Zaurus (server). There is a good How-to (for your ROM) at:

2) Getting Kismet working does take a little work, but I have an old copy working on my old SL-5500, so it is possible. The key is "guessing" what type of wireless card you have, I am not familiar with yours, but I would start by selecting Prism in the Kismet Config. There is a How-To at:
