help w/ simpletech SD card
« on: February 20, 2004, 07:38:40 pm »
I just got my 128MB SD card yesterday, put the cacko rom on my SL 5500 and all was good until i tried to suspend/resume, which resulted in the Z not being able to access the SD card and needed a reboot everytime i suspend/resume, ive tried to use fsck and it always says that inode 5989, and 5990 has zero dtime, also tried to run badblocks, but doesnt come up w/ any bad blocks. did i get a faulty card? or is there something im not doing right? i think it might have worked the first couple times, until i put ~60MBs of mp3s on it :-(

The Z has problems with various brands of SD cards.  Most will work fine in normal circumstances, but may of them will need to be unmounted / remounted after a suspend.  So they will appear to be ok untill you start using them heavy, as in having open applications on them (which prevents sdmgr from unmounting the card).  Also noticable if you are using /home on the SD.
I do know that Lexar cards work good, PNY ones need remounting after suspend, and some Sandisk cards have had problems both with heavy app use on the SD, and when formated with the ext2 filesystem.  BTW, I just picked up a 256meg Lexar for around $80.00 at walmart, one of the better deals I\'ve run accross, and it works perfectly, same with my older 64meg Lexar card (both /home on SD, and full root filesystem on the SD, ext2 formated).

i saw a post on the devnet mirror that someone had patched the SD driver so that it waited longer on resume to mount to fix this problem, does anyone have this patched SD driver? or know how i can patch it?
