C750 Bricked -- Was running Cacko Qt 1.20 ROM
« on: March 19, 2004, 10:31:26 pm »
I\'m not sure if it\'s this ROM or these suspend package I need to install to get this Socket CF rev2.5 card working, but on my latest flash my Z has been bricked!!!  :x

This time I flashed the Cacko Qt 1.20 ROM per the instructions as I\'ve done 6 times now.  After install, I loaded on some packages:

binutils, bluez_csr_serial, personal-profile, pyqt, python, python-doc, ruby, sudo, susp-resume-bluez, vim, x11zaurus, and zSMS

I left susp-resume out this time since every other time I installed it, I could not turn the Zaurus off using the reboot button, reboot command, and On/Off button.

After installing all the packages, I decided to reboot just to be on the safe side.  Then I powered on the device and tried the On/Off button.  Now, the On/Off button and the \"Power On\" button on the keyboard will not start the Z.  I even pulled the battery, disconnected from AC, and reinserted the battery after 10s... still can\'t turn it on.

Anyone know how to flash a new ROM when it is in this state?

Why are these susp-resume and susp-resume-bluez packages screwing my Z up so bad with this ROM????  I have to have the susp-resume-bluez package to get the Z to recognize the Socket CF rev2.5 bluetooth card... yes, I have followed all the instructions about ejecting and reinserting the card to get around that... it never worked.

Thanks
Curt

Whew!  After letting it sit for an hour or so w/o AC or battery, I was able to reflash the ROM.  This time I did not install the susp-resume* packages and the On/Off works fine.

You\'re not the only one this has happened to. A friend of mine bought a Zaurus on my advice and we both flashed the latest Cacko Qtopia ROM. Now both our Zaurus\'s are bricked (mine more-so because of a failed NAND flash restore) and the only key I can find is that we both have CF communications cards. He has a socket WiFi card and I have a Bluemonkey Bluetooth card. Both of us tried to turn our Zauruss on with the card in place (but we had removed them before suspending) and that appears to have been the key, although I\'m not 100% sure of this.

Hmmm... I never tried popping the card out and then trying to power up.  Oh well, things are fine now and I\'ll just try to avoid the susp-resume packages for now.
