SL-5500 V3.13 initrd.bin?
« on: March 08, 2004, 05:01:21 pm »
Hi,

I\'d like to try out the ASYNC kernel that has been posted in the Downloads/Kernels section, but need a matching initrd.bin from the Sharp 3.13 ROM to go with it.  I can rip it out of the OSPACK myself, but thought I\'d ask if anyone has it handy first. Pointers?

Thanks.

Nope, romburst is your friend.

For all those without it, here you go:

Si

P.S. Someone ought to sort out this attachment thing - I couldn\'t attach the source file as was as it wouldn\'t accept an attachment with a .c suffix.

For some reason, I couldn\'t see your attachment at all, but I found romburst with Google and was successful in pulling initrd.bin and reflashing. Thanks for the hint.

mike, you don\'t need to flash both the initrd.bin and zImage together.  They can be flashed independantly if you want.  You can also do a \"dd if=/dev/mtdblock0 of=/mnt/cf/initrd.bin\" to extract your current root filesystem image if you wanted.

Greg2 - Lardman\'s attachment block didn\'t show up when I accessed it last night, but I see it now - thanks.

derekp - from reading various docs, I was getting the impression that I could do one at a time, but I didn\'t want to screw up my Z beyond recovery. Thanks for confirming that one at a time is possible.

Thanks to all - I\'m a happy camper.

Hi mike_r!

Well, I download the romburst  of the above post but I cant use it on windoze, so I didnt want to bother but I would like to ask, if may be possible, the upload of the 3.13 parts separate (initrd.bin and zImage)...

Thanx and best regards!
