Which CF modem?

Not got one myself, but recently lent a C750 to Foxpop for review. They had a couple of CF Modems knocking around that they tried out and worked ok. Pretec and Xircom.

See http://www.foxpop.co.uk/Sharp/zaurus_cover.htm (You want connectivity page).

I\'ve gotta ambicom modem...works great
Guest, which ambicom mobem? I have CF56M-EZ and I cannot get it
to respond to minicom (what serial port should I be talking to? Tried ttyS1, ttyS2)
and the \'on\' light does not come on.

I have been trying to dial in to it and have getty give me a login propmt, but
now I am starting to wonder if my problem is perhaps with the card.
edit
I did not try ttyS3- now that I have, it works on my SL5500.

I have that same modem and I can\'t get it to work with my 5600.
Although I think I tried to use ttyS3. I can\'t get minicom to work with it either (this is the first time i\'ve ever played with minicom)

What steps did you take to get it to work?
In minicom I pressed Control-A Z to get the setup menu. Then I selected o, and then serial port setup from the menu.  I then selected A and typed either /dev/ttyS3 or just ttyS3.

I have it dialing and making connections, but I have not succeeded in doing file transfers.
Trying to use z-modem with a Mac. Might try ppp soon, but havo only done direct computer to computer connections so far, manualy issuing ata and atd.

The Pretec CompactModem is excellent, works flawlessly just like any external serial modem with Linux.
I have tested it successfully with Zaurii SL-5000D, SL-5500 and SL-6000L and with many different roms, sharp, tkc, hybrid, oz.
I managed to send and receive faxes with it, too

Been using/selling the Pretec one for a while now and it works a treat with the C7/8xx models and standard roms.

Who has a Targus PA560 working (if anyone) and what are the init commands?  I ordered a new, sealed PA560U (that\'s what it said on the packaging, anyway), but the modem inside turned out to be a PA560.  Thanks.
