Available Preorder Sl-c1000

Is the US Adapter the Ea-70s  the same as the ones on the SL-5xxx series or the SL-6000 ?

I think the C7xxx series came with a very slim adapter (with fold-back pins) - is it like that or is it the normal older adapters ?

I am asking this in conjunction with the sale of C1000 and the adapters that come with it . Looking forward to having a "sale on" page on your site soon (instead of pre-orders).

The Ea-70s is the same adapter that was sold with the Sl-6000 this is the actual US adapter and we do provide it with the unit the one with the fold back pins is the EA-72 we do not advise using that adapter in the US. We have shipped some preorders out already I believe Offroadgeek recieved his today. We will have more of these units due in on Wed. the only reason we have preorder still up is we have not finished our US manual for this unit yet and we want to do that before we change the status. Either way everyone who orders if out of stock recieves there unit within 7 days in stock is shipped same day as long as ordered before 12pm. I hope this answers your questions. We also have a picture of what is supplied with the 1000 in our forums if you wish to take a look.

Yep, I received mine this morning and I absolutely love it!  I let it charge for a few hours after opening it, then began playing with it.  the black is really sleek, and it takes a little getting used to the keyboard, but I'm staring to like it better than my 760 keyboard.

I've thought about getting a case for it, but I don't really want to hide the beautiful casing, and I don't think I'd carry it around as much with a case on it as it would be just that much larger.

I don't regret buying the 1000 at all.  Even though this isn't really a big upgrade from the C series, I've had my 760 for nearly two years, and it was definitelytime for an upgrade.  Besides, I'm really looking forward to having the USB host on this unit...

I would definitely recommend buying from Streamline if you're still undecided.  They were very responsive to my nagging emails and request for priority shipping.

Oh yeah, and my favorite new feature is how the unit goes to sleep when you close the lid!

sorry for the little off topic question, but does that mean you cannot ssh into the device with the lid closed?

you can disable the suspend with lid closed via a new settings tab in the Light & Power applet.

offroadgeek: what are you going to do with your 6000L after getting the c1000? I'd like to get the c1000, which will be my first c series. But can't justify that since i definitely don't want to part with my 6000L.

I'd imagine if i got the c1000, it would probably took the place of 6k in my pocket. Any ideas of how to put the 6k into good use. some of my ideas are like using it as servers (apache, maybe even asterisk, etc)? And how useful it would be acting like that?... any thoughts on other interesting applications?

personally I just don't like the tablet keyboards (on my 5500 and 6000) nearly as well as the clamshell keyboards...  that said, I'm going to use my 6000 mostly at home with a usb keyboard/mouse and as a voip phone.

I'll be using my 1000 as my primary z, carrying it around everywhere, use it as work (when I get a new job  ), etc.

xjqian,

I use my 6000 as an apache server 24x7.  It is also my instant on, ultra portable cpu at home.  I also have the expansion sleeve that gives me the extra power to light up my usb keyboard for those late night/in bed sessions.

I love the look of the 1000 and the cheaper price, but I'm going to *try* and wait to see what the summer's new Z will bring.

How do you get it 24x7, see my question in this thread [a href=\"https://www.oesf.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=11573]Annoyance in Light Settings[/url]

yes, the sexiness of 1000 and sweeter price win me over the 3000. Besides having a hdd in my pda is just not my thing.

well for one, kde pim pi's alarms go off enough not to suspend it after 12 hours.  I will try to edit the conf to see if that works.  On the 760, I was able to stop the screensaver editting the same file.  I think I can set the screensaver time to 0 and it will not come on.  The only caveat was that any time you change something with the light and power gui, you would have to re edit the file.

BTW any more discussion on this off topic should be moved to another thread in the 6000 section.

Got mine friday (from pricejapan) after having it sit in customs since the 22nd, waiting for some public servant to sign the release forms. Payed 440 € for the SL-C1000, power supply, paypal credit card extra (3.9%) and EMS shipping.
All I can say is that the design looks great, and it is fast and nice!

Now I need to try to build a working oz rom for it...
