How Long Should I Let My C3100 Charge For
« on: November 29, 2005, 01:58:07 pm »
Hey,

DHL just delivered my C3100 and I after ogling  over every nook and cranny for about a half of an hour I opened the batt bay and inserted the battery.

How long should it be let to charge before I crank her up for the first time?

Also, is there an internal battery switch that needs to be flipped on when you first unpack it?  My SL-6000 has one (I guess it's similar to a motherboards cmos battery) but I didn't see anyone anywhere in or around the battery compartment.  All I saw was the reset button and the switch that locks the battery compartment cover.

Since I'm talking about batteries anyway is the EA-BL11 the only battery that you can use with this model?  It seems to be the exact physical dimensions of the EA-BL08, (which can be had for about $25 each from Amazon unless they have run out.)  But I certainly would like to know for sure so that I don't ruin my beautiful new toy.

As always thanks folks!,

I let mine charge overnight (8+hrs) for the first charge.  I make it a rule of thumb to do double of the estimated normal charge time, but it probably can be taken off earlier.

The 3100 does not have an internal battery like the 6000 (or the 5500 for that matter).  Use AC when changing battery.

I've read in the forums here that the two battery models *are* compatible.  A quick search would confirm.
I'm now an iphone user and use my zaurii as serial terminals, perl and shell scripting and when I need 640x480 screens

I have a C3000 which uses the same battery. I got a replacement battery from lion battery which on the battery says replacement for BL-08. It is actually 2000mAh though so it is bigger (more powerfull/longer lasting) than the stock battery. it is the same dimenstional as the original one.

Mark,

Could you please drop me a link to where you bought the aftermarket battery you mentioned?  I'd like to look into that- more mah always sounds better!

Thanks,

isn't that the battery trisoft is testing?

yes, it is.

And the tests are looking really good. We're very satisfied
with the quality of the batteries.

Now we're only waiting for a missing document and then
we should be ready-to-go with this item

I hope we're able to post some results of the testing this week.

PS: To answer the main topic: A full charge of a new EA-BL11 can
take up to 6 hours. Then the charger light should go off.
