Installing Ipks In Oz 3.5.4 Problems
« on: March 25, 2006, 11:20:49 pm »
Hi All,

I've just installed OZ 3.5.4 on my sl-5500, (opie-image, 32-32 zimage)  it flashed just fine, hooked up to the internet useing a xircom cf card no problem, opened package manager and updated list no problem,  tried to install "task-opie-multimedia" problem...

installed to ramdownloaded and started install just fine
then had the following errors...

"Error linkling '/media/ram/packages/opt/QtPalmtop/pics/opieplayer2/skins/default_landscape/skin_down.orig.png' to '/opt/QtPalmtop/pics/opieplayer2/skins/default_landscape/skin_down.orig.png'

and many others that look like the skin links

the opie players show up in the applications tab but error out not finding the opieplayer2 skin

I fairly new to the zaurus but like it when it works

Please help I need to hear my MP3's

Thanks

Did you try using the default mediaplayer in sharprom?  That one works fine.  I never got anything working on the opiemediaplayer.
Zaurus C-3200 (internal 8gb seagate drive) with buuf icon theme, cacko 1.23 full,  and also Meanie's pdaxqtrom-Debian/Open Office
Zaurus SL-5500 Sharp Rom 3.13 with steel theme
pretec pocket pc wi fi
ambicom bt2000-cf bluetooth-made in taiwan
simpletech 1gb cf
pny 1gb sd
patriot 2gb
ocz or patriot 4gb sd(failed after 2 weeks)only on z
creative csw-5300 speakers in stereo
DigiLife DDV-1000 for video, Audio, Picture recording playable on the zaurus
Mustek DV4500-video recorder, pictures, voice record on sd for z

Dear Tom,

I think I know the cause of this error, it is described in this thread...

Postnote : I have submitted this as bug # 1755 on the Opie bugzilla.

The problem is with the package manager, or perhaps one of the programs it is calling (?ipkg-link).

1. You can try installing opie-aqpkg instead, which does not seem to have that problem.
2. After installing with 'package manager' you can enter this command in the shell...

Code: [Select]
ipkg-link mount /media/ram/packages/

(there is probably a way to use 'ipkg-link add', you can try to interpret the instructions in the wiki.

3. You can manually create the missing directory, which would be /opt/QtPalmtop/pics/opieplayer2/skins/default_landscape. You will probably have to create a whole lot of other missing directories as well.

Cheerio, David.
