3200 Cacko Flash Query

Apologies in advance but I could not see the answer elsewhere.

Do I have to repartition to install cacko on a 3200? From what I can see, the orig sharp rom has about 45M available so that should be more than enough, or does that mean I have no room for installing additional apps? I just didnt want to screw up the partitions in case I need to do a nand restore (though need to undersand it as also considering pdaxrom).

I also notice that HDA3 has used up 1.4g already, is that the japanese dictionary and if so, can I delete it?

For Cacko 1.23 full, partition at least 32MB.
For Cacko 1.23 Lite, partition at least 19MB.
I'm sure the reason maslovsky says "at least", is because some older Zauri can have bad blocks and may need a couple more megabytes to hold the ROM

Now if you partition to a much larger number, such as 45MB, you're wasting space on flash. 45 - 32=13
You've lost 13MB, because you won't have access to it once the ROM is flashed.
You can delete all the stuff on the FAT partition (HDA3)
But I would back it up somewhere, because some of the Maps are not on the CD-ROMs.
I just copied the entire contents to my PC. I'll archive it to DVD later.

Thanks Jon. It's just that it's new and I am hesitating, wondering whether to try the tetsu kernel instead. I have flashed cacko before on a 750 but it had no internal drive.

I just need to make the first move!

I don't have a hdd to think about, but I installed Cacko 1.23 on my C1000 and had some issues I couldn't get resolved, so I switched back to the sharp rom.
I installed the tetsu kernel and the updated battery applet, and I have correct battery level percentages, plus overclocking.
I installed the tetsu driver for my 4GB SD card and that works great.
I can do everything with the sharp rom I could with cacko, and everything "just works" with the sharp rom.
The only thing is I have 5MB of wasted flash space but I'll have to live with that.

Is the tetsu kernel easy to install? I saw the page (in japanese) and am tempted to try it. I agree that if sharp just 'works' then that is much the best for me, but there are good apps on other roms so it is a tricky balancing act. I have tried cacko, pdaxrom and oz on my old 750, all had their issues but cacko was the most stable if you havent got a degree in linux expertise and seemed to work with a good range of useful apps.

I do  miss genuine hwr on the zaurus, my main criticism of it as a handheld and opie had a useful graffiti set that worked well.
