What do YOU use your Zaurus for?
« on: December 01, 2003, 10:57:22 pm »
Alright, I just picked up a wi-fi card (Ambicom from Best buy for $69, it\'s amazing and works flawlessly).

So what does everyone use their Zaurus for besides the usual PIM stuff?  Whats your favorite app?  What unique ideas could you give to the rest of the ZUG?

I want to hear lotttts of responses so I can find new ways to amaze myself with my Zaurus!

I think the main use mine gets is wireless IRC access on my C760. I use the ZIC client but to be honest the client is too basic for my needs *hint!*

I connect to the net via a Armadillo BlueCF bluetooth card to my Nokia 6310i both via GPRS and HSCSD depending which is cheaper at the time of day

Ohmygod you have the same kickass speakers as I do for my Zaurus

I use the creative travelsound\'s PSU to charge my Zaurus here in the UK too as the Voltage & Amperage are a near-match (the Voltage is bang on at +5 Volts and the Amperage is slightly over at 1.5 Amps, all this means is the battery charges a little quicker)

I\'ve yet to find a game that screams \"DOWNLOAD ME AND KEEP ME ON YOUR Z!\" - I\'m a 3D game fanatic and the Quake / Doom clones I\'ve had problems running and the Eon Games products are designed for the SL series not the C7x0 series which I am bound to.

What I do now:
- the obvious stuff (pim, games, checkbook)
- playing mp3s and oggs
- keeping track of
   - books, movies & CDs I\'ve lent or borrowed
   - good actors & good(-looking) actresses (I\'m a movie buff with bad memory)
   - OpenZaurus bugs :-)
- keeping a diary of misc. rants
- financial planning

What I plan to do once time & money permits:
- taking voice notes
- tuning my guitar
- ear training
- surfing the net using bluetooth and a cell-phone
- remote-controlling my multimedia PC using bluetooth
- remote-controlling home appliances using a bluetooth-PC-X10 setup (X10 is a protocol for controlling appliances through their power sockets)

Note that for my present needs, I am perfectly happy with apps from the OZ testing feed plus HancomSheet.

I actually don\'t use my Z much for the PIMs.
My main uses for the Z are twofold.

At Home I use the Z to log into AIM and use Opera to browse the web over 802.11b.

At Work I use the Z as a mini-terminal. I use the minicom application to console into various networking coomponents as well as SUN servers.
