Sync Software For Cacko 1.23
« on: February 19, 2006, 01:40:59 am »
Okay, so I've decided that I'm just not going to be able to sync to my Xandros box ... so I decided to go back to my Windows XP box and sync to that. I downloaded the drivers for the C860 from the ZUG downloads page and installed them to Windows by hooking up the 860 via the USB cable. It wouldn't sync to the version of Qtopia desktop I had for the Sharp ROM 3.13 for the 5500, so I uninstalled that and reinstalled the original Qtopia desktop from the 5500 install disk. That doesn't work either. Now what? (Foxdie's site with the combined Qtopia and drivers is down, and so's the mirror.)

I have used the English 6000L software + drivers from the Japanese 860 CD. You can get it here:

Thanks, propofol, I'll give that a try on the weekend! At the moment, the 860 drivers are at least enabling me to use the Zaurus File Transfer function of the 3.13 Update version of Desktop Manager. I'd still like to be able to sync my calendar and address book again.

Nope, that did not allow me to sync ... the message was that the version of qtopia on the Z was not the same as on the PC. I'm going to uninstall all of this, reinstall the 5500 sync software from the disk, an try that using the 860 drivers. I'll keep the thread posted as to whether that works ...

And no again. Back to the version of Qtopia desktop and connection software that came with the 3.13 upgrade for the Sharp rom on the 5500. At least I know I can get to the directories on the 860 with those ... I'm using the USB network settings to connect to the PC, by the way, with the USB drivers for the 860.

Hi !

I'd like to sync my C1000 with winXP too, so I tried the soft for the 6000 that is provided here and installed the driver from the japanese zaurus CD.

I wanted to sync with Qtopia Desktop. I got 2 errors : One saying that the versions on the zaurus and on the computer were not matching.

And later it could not connect anymore to the Zaurus.
I don't have much time now to try further...

Here are sync instructions I used to get my C1000 to sync with Outlook in Windows XP:  don't know if it works for Qtopia desktop because I've never tried that.

I don't have Outlook, and would not use it if I did. Wanna sync with Thunderbird's address list.

My treo90 used to sync with Eudora. I wonder ...

Ah, success. The Intellisync address book and calendar, it turns out, will sync with Palm Desktop 4.0.1. So: Install Palm Desktop 4.0.1 on your XP desktop. Install the desktop software for the Sharp 3.13 update, opting for the USB connection through USB IP; set the USB IP address on both the desktop and the Z to 192.168.129.201 for the connection. Install the Intellisync software, not the Qtoipa desktop. Setting up the Intellisync connection, make sure that the address book and calendar and anything else you want syncs to Palm Desktop instead of Outlook.

You also need to install the Zaurus File Transfer to your desktop. Use the USB storage too if you want quick access to your storage cards from the PC, just remember that you need to switch it on or off on the Z's PC Connect (from the Settings tab) each time you connect. And set Intellisync not to start from the cradle, you don't have a cradle!

Hooking the Z up to the XP box, you'll get the Safe Remove icon in your systray. Click on that to unmount the Z before you disconnect.
