kismet Zaurus 6000

I have the exact same problem.  Wish I could say I knew why or what to do about it, though.

Well, I can't help much except to tell you I've run it for hours and never had a lockup on the 6000.  I just worked through the instructions in the 6000 forum and they worked.

BTW, what's the best way to actually attach to a network once it's found?  Kisment doesn't seem to be able to do this easily.  Is there an easier way to connect to a non WEP net other than configuring the name discretely in the setup program?

I think it all depends on which version of Kismet you are running. Have you tried the version(s) listed in the Kismet for SL-6000 how-to?

I have had mixed result. Most of the time Kismet is fine. But sometimes it locks up, and it seems to be the network interface which is causing the problem (that it the WLAN interface light isn't flashing as it normally is when Kismet is running). This happens less that 5% of the time, so I haven't spent much time troubleshooting it.

Have you tried configuring a service which has "ANY" for the SSID (and using DHCP as well). I have one configured this way, and it seems to allow me to connect to anyone's network without reconfiguring each time.

Got it!
Problem was, ahem, the Zaurus was 2 inches from my 802.11b phone.

I moved it and voila!

No, I find if I enable DHCP on my 6000L the network search program will time out after about 30 seconds and "disconnect". I have to keep a dummy IP value programmed in.

Been looking for a sniffer, i.e ethereal or tcp dump that works on the 6000.
Any ideas?  (Finally found a belt case - I snagged the one that came with my
stud locator!!?)

There is Ethereal and TCPdump for the Z.

Ethereal is difficult to get running (I haven't suceeded yet). TCPdump on the other hand works just fine. Look on the Zaurus Software Index (ZSI).
