Hi all,
I've been wondering recently about wirelessly connecting my Zaurus to other computers, particularly my machine at home...
The obvious choice is to get a 802.11b CF card, however this doesn't suit me for a number of reasons - but mainly the fact that my main storage is a 1gig CF card... Also there's the battery life issue, and the need for a wireless card for my pc... which adds up to a bit of money.
If I was living at my parents home place, that would be a different story as I would have wireless everything around the house. In the place i'm living in currently with my girlfriend, I spend most of my time in two rooms...
Thus, i've been thinking about setting up maybe 2 / 3 usb-IRDA headers around the place (they sell quite cheap on ebay), with the added benefit of being able to keep both my slots full... and not drain the battery madly.
Question, does the IRDA on the zaurus support high speed (i.e. greater than 115200?)... I'm aware the range wouldn't be exactly great, but i don't feel that poses a significant hurdle for this scenario...
How easy would it be to setup a tcp/ip stack over this link? Any ideas or other suggestions would be very welcome... Only it would probably be a bit too slow I could see a pic (microcontroller), serial port to IRDA bridge (using a few high intensity emitters to extend range).
