Kde-pim/pi 2.0.16 Release

I think I have a new buglet in 2.0.25 that was not in 2.0.23 (missed .24, you guys are fast!).

The "OK" hardware button will not handle / stop an alarm.  The "Cancel" button will suspend for the indicated time period.  I have to press the "OK" button on the touch screen and it works.

Note this is with a SL-5500, old tkc ROM.

Thank you!

Hi slocaus!

Quite strange.
It works for me.
What does happen when you press  "OK" ?

Does the alam dialog have the keyboard input fucus (i.e. the titel is highlighted) when you press OK?

thanks a lot...

and now that you have given me an inch, i'll ask for an ell. The view that I have on kapi is the list view as well as the default view. The default sizes is 50% for each but I would like something more like 30-70. Now this can be changed int he view but it is not remembered by kapi so when I start kapi again it defaults back to 50-50. Can this state be remembered.

In kopi can the default day view show only times from day begin and day end which are entered in the preferences. the default view shows the entire 24 hours and more often than not i dont have appointments at 2 am in the morning . the time slot 8 am to 6pm fits well without a scrollbar too. If this is already possible I dont know how to set it.

thanks

Hi Zautrix,

Nothing happens when I press hardware "OK" button, and yes, the alarm dialog does have focus.  Stylus tap on screen immediately dismisses alarm;  I know it takes two taps if the dialog does not have focus.

This is the first bug I have found in some time, which is why you have not heard from me in a while, though I have been using releases as they come out.  <shrug>

There is a new version available with fixed vcard import for Japaneese.

Please test this and let me know if it is  not working.
You wouldn't happen to have a binary/ipk of the new version, would you?

I have some weird version with nice icons (not the one one maslovsky's site). I can email it to you if you'd like. Doesn't like orientation switching while it is open too much, but otherwise works fine.
I also had a bad flash once, it was very irritating. Nothing worked properly, I kept getting random cashes. Bah. Do you use Kino? I find that it messes with pretty much everything.

If i hadn't had similar problems before the last flash, i'd feel more confident that this can be fixed by a reflash.

Yes, i have been using Kino.  And yes, i have noticed that everything seems to start going wrong around the time it is installed.  However, i thought it was basically the only semi-full featured media player.  What do you use?

Standard media player. Maslovsky has shown limited interest in fixing Kino, so I'm not using the Z as a video player.

Ah, overlooked the .26 release, sorry. Importing vCards containing Japanese characters does seem to work now, thanks.

As for the issue of categories not being automatically added: I created the following simple card and imported it; the category name is saved with the card, but it does not show up in the list of categories, and hence cannot be used as a filter.
Code: [Select]
BEGIN:VCARD
VERSION:3.0
NAME: John Doe
FN:John Doe
N:Doe;John;;;
CATEGORIES:Custom
CLASS:PUBLIC
END:VCARD

Other than that, everything else seems to be working great (aside from not being able to manually set SORT-STRING). I noticed that some dialogs don't fit on the screen (buttons, etc. are clipped), though this may be due to the fact that I'm using the original Japanese lcfont for Qtopia (locale is set to Japanese).

Anyways, thanks for the quick fix.

I've started using KOrganizer as well... it's improved quite a bit since I last tried it (many months ago)...

In KOrganizer, is there any way to hide SyncEvents in the Month view (or, preferably, all views)? I found the option for hiding/showing them in 'What's Next', but couldn't find an option for the other views.

I realize I've been demanding a lot... just think of it as my way of showing my interest in the software. ^^;

No, it makes a lot of sense. The whole category should be invisible, since it's parts of the nuts and bolts the user shouldn't have to worry about.

I just found that someone has recently created a Japanese translation (usertranslation.txt) for KO/Pi. I was wondering if, with the creator's permission, there would be any interest in including the file as one of the default available translations?

The file is available here: http://kenr1z.seesaa.net/image/usertranslation.txt
Note that it is currently not a complete translation, though from a brief glance, I'd estimate that it is 90-95% complete (does not include help files, of course).

If interested, let me know, and I will contact the author.

(Aside: It is unfortunate that there seems to be such a lack of collaboration/communication between the Japanese and non-Japanese Z communities. I often find that there are some great programs for the Z that (non-)Japanese users don't know about, or that translated/unicode-capable versions are not available.)

I'm sure it'd be a good idea to include a Japanese translation since the most Zaurus are sold there. We'd probably get a lot of feedback, and the price for that is a only an incremental increase in file size.
I do think we should wait for the translation to be 100% done before we include it.
Zautrix, are the other translations files 100% as well?

I would be great to have Japanese translation.
But the file is missing the latest translations ( appr. 250 lines ) and contains some English<-> German translations.

Please ask the author to fix this and send me the ranslated file.
You can say to him:
If he does not fix the English<-> German in the file and send it to me I will remove support for utf8 translation files in the next stable release.
Such that his work will become useless then.
And that he has to look in the germantranslation.txt file to get the latest changes.
(That is mentioned in the HowTo as well).

z.

No, much less.
Only the germantranslation file is up to date.
