Kde-pim/pi 2.0.16 Release
« Reply #180 on: April 15, 2005, 11:45:28 am »
Ok, version 2.0.27 is out.

Again some bugfixes and some new features (like the "now" button for jesizmi.)
(By the way, I believe I just understand the meaning of your nick, yesitsme :-) )

No more new features before the next stable release.

I hope I can release version 2.1 next week.

I will test this weekend on my 5500.
Please test and report any problems.

********** VERSION 2.0.27 ************

More bugfixes.
Added possibility to clone in KO/Pi a todo with all its subtodos.
Added config option for alternate background in list views.

Added a timetracker funtionality in KO/Pi for todos in the todo view.
If a todo is set to started and then to stopped it is saving information about the runtime in
<yourhome>/kdepim/apps/timetrackerdir.
To read, display, print this information an external program is needed which will be developed.
It will display the data in a Gantt timetable view with one row for each todo.
It will have many possibilities sorting the data after category, parent todos, attendees, ... and for creating/printing status reports/summaries.
Merging of data from different computers/users will be quite easy because every run is stored in a single file.

Hi,

In KO/PI is there :
- a function to link a file to an item ?
- the option to open the linked file with the corresponding software ?

That would be great to associate sketches I would have drawn using FreeNoteQT for example.

This app is already great anyway.

Thanks

Get ti now, thanks. I always press the agenda key with my left hand, instead, and yes, it can get aggravating.

I've just started using KDE-pim, and I'm coming from years of use of a Palm Pilot (with Datebook3), so that's coloring some of my perceptions of the PIM.

Here are some suggestions, based on KDE-Pim 2.0.6 (on an SL-5000D, OE 2.5.3, Opie 1.7):

First of all, thanks for your work in on-going development on these tools. They are my main use for the Zaurus, and it's good to have this software.

kapi

Add the abiility to right-click on the "Category" tab in kapi to quickly filter on existing
categories. (Similar to the "auto filter" option in Excel (yuck), where the existing categories are  automatically available for filtering.

On my desktop (Kapi 2.0.23), I can search within all fields of an entry (including notes). On the Zaurus (version 2.0.6), searches seem to be restricted to just name, family name, category, e-mail address.

kopi

Add the option to hide "to-dos" that don't have a due date in the "What's Next" view

Possibly option for floating to-dos (ie., they've got an assigned day, but "float" to successive days if they're not completed)

Add the option to right-click on the "Category" tab to quickly filter on existing
categories.

Add the ability to right-click on the Priority tab to filter (not sort) by priority

Allow assignment of categories to applications (ie., to-do, addressbook,
calendar). Enable the option to determine which categories are visible
in which application (default to the "native" category). For example, I tend to use the "ToDo" list for general reminders that don't have a specific date--such as the names of books that I want to purchase someday, but not today, or my wife's clothing size, in case I'm ever shopping for her. These are not associated with a specific task, but could be grouped into categories like "Books to Get" or "Sizes". Those categories would only apply to the ToDo views (and application), and never need to be shown while entering an appointment or filtering in the calendar view. Similarly, a calender-specific category, like "weekly department meeting" wouldn't need to be visible in when entering (or filtering) the ToDo list.

Is that the option for pressing the Hardware Button and to just display the What's Next view?  If so, how can I get this working again?  I really miss the hardware button just selecting the one view (especially as I'm using it on a 5500 and hence no easy access to the keyboard).

Also, I notice that the Alarm applet has a much larger font than before for the menu - is this customisable, as it's a little large on a 5500?

No it is not customisable.

Is it too large for the screen?

Hi Zautrix,

Nothing happens when I press hardware "OK" button, and yes, the alarm dialog does have focus.  Stylus tap on screen immediately dismisses alarm;  I know it takes two taps if the dialog does not have focus.

This is the first bug I have found in some time, which is why you have not heard from me in a while, though I have been using releases as they come out.  <shrug>

Ah, now I get the problem as well.

That is quite strange, I will try to fix this.
