Erasing Storage Memory Without Rom
« on: January 21, 2005, 01:34:22 pm »
Hey all,

I just got a Zaurus SL-500d from work, and have been futzing around with it a bit.
I installed OpenZaurus (borrowing a card reader), partitioning it to 24 megs memory and 8 megs storage, but accidentally installed an IPK to root instead if a memory card, filling the root partition. Since the application didn't install properly, it doesn't show up in the package manager.

I tried a full restart to clear the storage area, but that didn't help. Hell, I tried taking the battery out, and that didn't help. I currently don't have a USB cable, as the one I got with the Zaurus was broken sometime before I acquired it.

How would I erase the storage portion of the memory?

Thanks,
Gaelan

If you remove everything from the flashROM it won't start.

Unless you're willing to remove the app by hand you'll have to reflash an initrd.bin to get back to your initial state.
