Looking For Vorbis Ogg Plugins For Music Player
« on: January 25, 2005, 10:36:50 pm »
The default music player of SL-C3000 cannot play Vorbis OGG. Are there any plugins available there to enable the music player to be able to play OGG music file? The reason why I prefer the default music player coming with Zaurus is that I can use the accompanied earphone to control the player very conveniently and the music player can still be running even when the lid is closed! But the tkcPlayer from TheKompany will be suspended if the lid is closed and cannot be controlled the earphone.

I tried http://moria.ionkov.net/zaurus/vorbis-plug...1.0.1-6_arm.ipk but it doesn't work for the default music player.

Anyone has any clues? Thanks a lot!

Try this: <http://www.killefiz.de/zaurus/showdetail.php?app=617>

Not sure if it works on the 3k but I think it probably will.

That's the same thing as what shreks pointed out at the bottom of his post.

AFAIK, that's the only plugin that has been written for a default Sharp player. In what way does it not work for the SL-3000's default player?

Do the files not show up? That may be a mime type problem. You need to make sure that one of the mime.types listed in the .desktop file for the default player under /home/QtPalmtop/apps matches (can include wildcards) the mime type for the ogg extension in /home/QtPalmtop/etc/mime.types .

P.S. ELSI is the new ZSI.

The OGG plugin mentioned here only works with old Sharp media player, which comes with 5500/6000

Unfortunately you are right: it does NOT work with my C3000! I changed all the configuration files related to the default music player, but I was still out of luck. I tried to contact the author to see if I can get any help.

Has the plugin interface changed, causing the vorbis plugin to fail to load?

If it helps, lucho is the author of that plugin (and zbedic and zroadmap I think) and still frequents these forums.

Looks like it did. Old plugins don;t work with the new player and new plugin interface is not published (or hacked).
