Web Acess To Sendmail On Redhat
« on: February 02, 2005, 07:46:12 am »
Sorry folks this isn't Zaurus related, but you folks are the only unix people I know.

Does anyone know how to give web access to email.  I've got sendmail/xinetd running on a redhat system which is typically accessed through outlook on windows PC's.  I'd like to have remote access for some people outside my firewall and a web access system seems right.   I've read about squirrelmail and imp webmail and will go with one of those, but I am looking for an opinion about what is best.  Something that a lot of people use and is easy to set up.

P.S.  Or if someone knows some linux specific forums, i'd appreciate a link.

Thanks

Why not setup SSL based authentication and access for your mail server and just setup a DMZ sectioning your mail server off from the rest of your network. Hence, your firewall would let the outsiders access their mail via SSL based connection.

Anyways my suggestion is google it, if you still persist on the web based mail. There are a large number of howtos and projects for doing web based mail. They are easilly available via google and sites such as freashmeat.net and sourceforge.net.

Please refrain from using the message board as a general Linux discussion forum.
