Some Annoying Things In Cacko 1.22a
« on: February 14, 2005, 02:34:33 am »
Hi! My z become useable, and now i can work with it, but there are a few things i would like to do:

- screenshot is bind to ctrl-c. Why???? It is the most annoying when u use terminal. How can i bind it to something else?

- can i switch task from the keyboard? like al-tab on desktop machine, i hate to grab the stylus when it's not necessary

- could you please add fetchmail, procmail, and ssmtp on the cacko feed? Than everyone would have evolution syncable, nice, command line based mailing system.

Thanks in advance, I don't want to badge you, these are really minor issues.

No, it's not bound to Ctrl + C, it's bound to Fn + Shift + C and this cannot be changed.

Sure, Shift + Home or Shift + Menu depending on your taste.

It's only a matter of having some free time to built, test and packages those applications.

The Japanese key two keys to the left of the -(@) key (one right of Fn) is mapped as Ctrl.

Since this is a thread about annoyances, I have a minor "annoyance" but it's not related to v. 1.22a specifically.

When I had the stock Sharp ROM on my SL-C860 I would notice I only had to tap once on the taskbar to bring up the program menu. I really liked that.

With the Cacko ROM, it never fails--I have to tap twice. The way I have gotten around this is to just press the menu key, but what accounts for this difference between the stock Sharp ROM and Cacko?

Strange, this is a well known functionality of keyhelper, which is build into input methods in Cacko ROM. I will add this to FAQ.

The package manager should inform after an installation, which additional package are missing, if they are not installed. Specially if you use the Lite version, sometimes it is hard to find out, which library must be avaliable for instance.
The current way I found out to check this is to start the application at the console. There you get an information which files are missing.

Hi! Sometimes when i draw a line with the stylus or when tap and hold something, it smudges. This makes the drawpad and the handwriting recognition unuseable. I am sure that this is a software issue, bacause openzaurus doesn't produce this, nor does cacko all the time. At the first install it was wrong, than some installed software repaired it, now it is wrong again. If you don't catch what i mean, you can see a screenshot at http://www.hszk.bme.hu/~bp504/
Anyone has an idea what is this?

Does anyone else using Cacko light have a problem with light setting where on battery power no matter whether you check 'Dim light after' or not zaurus dims anyway (after about 15 or so seconds)? I want to somehow set this so that no matter which level of dim I choose for light (using either hardware buttons or light setting dialog screen) it does not change after that.

Ok,

also on the annoyances:

Just about the only one I have is that  I seem to have lost the ability to write umlauts and accented characters ( ä, ü ö, è é). I know this somehow can be changed using keyhelper (anyone have link how to do this? ) and I might have done it in the past myself, but wouldn't it be nice if this came  by default

Other than that I really love the cacko rom, it it a major improvement over the standard Sharp rom.
