Will At Some Stage Try To Cackofy A 3000

Anton,

I don't know if you can give me some general pointers here but I've taken the plunge and ordered an SL-C3000, haven't decided what to do with the SL-C860 yet.

I was thinking of perhaps adapting as much as possible of the 1.22a ROM for this unit and as such I have the following in mind... if it turns out OK and you want to host it to keep tabs on Cacko distribution then that's cool by me.

i. Examine Cacko patch set and merge appropriate patches set to SL-C3000 Kernel (2.4.20 based of course - omitting all ATI stuff etc.).

ii. Diff out the rest of the changes from the original Sharp distro to find the Cacko changes. - I would like to confirm the base Sharp ROM that you used.. 1.10, 1.20 or 1.40 ?

iii. Ask your advice on more custom stuff. I anticipate that things like Kino/Mplayer won't run out of the box so I may initially just leave them out but in the longer term it may be good to try a Kino/Mplayer combo without the ATI acceleration. <UPDATE>Just seen your SL-C3000 support bits on the Kino page </UPDATE>

What do you think? BTW have you had a chance to play with one of these units yet?

iamasmith,

We will soon have a bug tracking system for Cacko up on my website.  You are more than welcome to use it.  Also, if you want some space for FTP, HTTP uploads, feeds, etc.  we can do that as well.  Just send me a PM.

Sounds great. Probably a couple of weeks before I get my 3000 but I'll PM you when I have made some progress. BTW: Anyone know for sure what's the best SL-C860 ROM to diff against Cacko 1.22 ?.

Yes, I will work on Cacko ROM for C3000 as soon as I get one device for me. I might be traveling to the US in the next couple of months, so that should help me get one without an overhead of importing to Russia.

As for the kernel patches - some of them will apply cleanly to C3000 kernel source, most will not. Some of the the patches have corresponding C3000 ones from piro, some will have to be rewritten (such as battery patch)

Finaly, I have no idea what Sharp ROM version was used for C-series Cacko ROMs - they were started by sash ages ago. Very likely some of the early releases. In any case making a diff won't be easy, there are way to many changes... I can easily bet that half of the binaries have been replaced.
