Form Factor Question For Current Sl-c3000 Owners
« on: February 16, 2005, 08:40:31 pm »
What I would like to know from a current c3000 owner is if the cover on the back is removeable like it was on the c860. In case you never saw an 860 i'll try to explain what I mean. The battery on the c7xx series was small and fit in the z, when the 860 was made an extended battery was made that stuck out of the back of the z. a cover was made that extended the size of the z out past the battery so the back was still flat. a switch on the back was fliped to hold it in place.

I would like to know if the c3000 is designed the same way.

the reason I ask is that I was to sell my c860 and get a c3000, then modify the battery cover panel with a usb hub that has built in wifi and bluetooth with an extra usb port. I know it will shorten battery life, but then i could run a gps with it and use it as a full desktop replacement.

the other question would be if anyone knows where I could find an extra extended battery cover for it if i mode it so i don't always have to use it with the hub on the back.

if I do actually follow through on this i'd be happy to post pictures if anyone is interested.

I know it's nitpicking, but the extended battery was introduced with the 760....

I was planning on getting something like this to extend the life of my Z. Maybe you could run something similiar as opposed to adding bulk to the actual Z.

Personally, your setup would be too cumbersome for me. I like having the Z just BARELY fit in my pocket (damn cool if it were just a little smaller, I have a c760) .. oh, and the c3000 is actually a little bit thicker and heavier then the cx60 series..

Hell, its 6:30am again and I have work at 9am, wtf am I doing! I've been on my Z messing around all damn night.  GAH!
