Hi! I am using cacko 1.22 and it's fantastic, i can read almost all my ebooks on pda, with bookreader, justreader, and qpdf2, but i have some books in windows help file format (chm, some kind of compressed html). What reader should i use for that?

supposedly qtreader is able to read .chm - unfortunately though i can't really make it work on my c3000 (yet). nevertheless, give it a try:

Yep, I'm using opie-reader (qtreader) and it works with all kinds of formats even HTML, never tried .chm

I can confirm that the latest version of opie-reader (both at Tim's site) and the Cacko feed) support chm files.

In fact opie-reader reads some chm files better than xchm on my linux box does.

Actually, Bob Griffin did most of the hard work on getting chm support into opie-reader so thanks to him.

I don't use chm very much so I can't be certain on this next point but I've been fixing things in the html handling which will probably help a lot with stability when reading chm files (it affects rb files too, which was how I found it). If you are getting a lot of segfaults in chm (or rb, for that matter) and you want to try the latest unstable to see if it fixes anything, drop me a line (timwentford at hotmail dot com).

Let me know if you are using a sharp based rom or an opie based one, and if you have opie whether it is gcc 2.x based or gcc 3.x based. Note that I can't build for the latest opie properly as I can't get the latest cross compiler but the only problems I have found is when putting %ages into the "Jump to" dialog so it should be pretty stable (it is the version I am currently using on a day to day basis).

Another possibility is "chmlib" (make examples) -- it will convert .chm into MANY .html
files.

Opie reader opens the chm file and displays it, but i cannot navigate in it. When i tap on a link, it asks me where to save the file. What am i doing wrong?
