CoreDump,

I will be glad to do an Opie/clamshell build after we tag Opie 1.2.0 (plan on doing it anyway for my device), probably Saturday.  Would I be able to put the image/feeds up on your site?  If not, I can probably add it on my handhelds.org home dir.

Sorry if this is old news and I'm the only person not to already know this but if you haven't noticed take a look at sysinfo and check the kernel out    2.6.11-3.5.3

Way to go Guys

I'm running a slightly older ROM (Opie 1.1.9-snapshot 8th March 2005, with the 2.6.11 kernel on my C750).

For some reason I don't have a working USB connection - any clues? I thought about insmod'ing net_fd.o only to find out that the 2.6.x kernels use something different (in fact lsmod shows no modules loaded at all! - very odd).

Anyone have any suggestions (about getting networking working)?

Actually I'll download the snapshot and try that so we can all be talking about the same thing.

That said, if anyone can explain why I have no modules loaded, that would be interesting.

Thanks :-),

Perhaps all the common components are compiled in to the kernel, rather than as modules?

One more thing, not really a bug, more of a usability issue - how's about having the date/time applet default to a slightly more recent date than 1/1/1970.

I'd have thought that defaulting to the build date would be good, but if that's not possible, how's abaout 1/1/2005.

It's a pain if you're testing/etc. and have to keep scrolling though 35 years to set the time correctly.

Si

P.S. I've flashed the new image now and will see if my networking issues remain.

P.P.S. How's about including fsck.ext2 and fsck.msdos (name?) in the standard image. These would be useful.

Folks,
Is there a test release for the SL-5600 yet?  I have the 5500 and the test release is great!  I just recently bought a 5600 and I am wanting to roll up my sleeves and get down and dirty with 3.5.3.  Congrats and thanks to the developers that have engineered the greatest Embedded OS for the Zaurus!

Keep It Up Guys!,

I'd love to test this on my SL-5600, too! Until 3.5.3 is final I can do anything with my little machine and test it thoroughly as there's no important system or data on it right now. I've been observing (and using) OZ since 3.5.1 and I want to help making it more stable, more useful and more fun to use but I don't know how to build it myself (yet).

Nice update, thanks as always for your work.  Installation was smooth -- I even left the SD card in on the first boot and no troubles.

Here's one problem I encountered that doesn't seem to have been mentioned yet.  I'm using Collie (SL-5500).

I'm having trouble setting the date.  Any time I set the date and hit OK, the date resets to Jan 1, 2003, and any other settings I changed on the dialog (i.e. the time) are lost.  If I just change the time, the time will work okay.

I also noticed that it still takes a really long time (6-10 seconds) to become responsive after waking up from sleep.  I know that's an old problem, just confirming that I'm still seeing it.

Looking forward to 3.5.3!

I've got an interesting one, more of a comment that a bug (so far).

With the image linked above, my Z (C750) is at least recognised by WinXP, but as "RNDIS/Ethernet Gadget", for which it can find no drivers (locally - i.e. on the installation disks).

I just did a quick google for RNDIS, and I suppose it ought to work as the driver seems to have been written for the purpose of keeping Windows' CDCEther implementation happy (I only read it quickly, I may have got the wrong end of the stick), I'll see if Windows update will turn up the drivers. If not, this is an issue as some people do still have to use Windows.

That's great! Are the issues with ALSA worked out with the 2.6 kernel, or will it still be using OSS ?

ALSA finally works fine with arm-linux-2.6 general. As I've said in a different post (named kernel 2.6 or so), it's still a question of the driver. There is no ALSA driver for the Corgi sound hardware yet.
