C3000 Built-in Japanese Dictationary Wanted!
« on: March 17, 2005, 11:36:29 pm »
Hi all C3000 users,

May I have the main application of Japanese Dictationary that built-in C3000? As I owned a C860 and am learning Japanese language. It is good to have such a best Japanese dictationary on hand. I already got the Dict data file in C3000's CDROM but only lack of the main application.

Thanks in advance!

Please don't ask for commercial and licensed software on the forums. As far as I'm aware the only way you can get a licensed version of this is to own a 3000.

Seems to me that there are are people who delete the Japanese dictionaries and will never use them:

Someone who wanted to delete dictionary

I don't know the legality of it, but you may be able to buy their unused dictionary software from them.

Personally, I paid for mine and am using them.  They are part of the reason I got my C3000 instead of a cheaper C860.  I do not want to give them away.

Jonathan.

I would suggest not. OEM license deals are there to enhance sales of that particular product. Similarly if you buy a copy of Microsoft Windows XP as an OEM license deal with a PC then you are NOT allowed to install it on another PC and must transfer the software with the system if sold.

The Sharp software like Java VMs is provided with specific devices and pays license fees to the developers based upon sales of units. The Dictionary software I think is developed by Sharp but in any case it is there to contribute to SL-C3000 sales (just as the 860 version was for the 860). Dodgy ground to install it on another Zaurus. Very dodgy ground to sell it.

Similarly if a new Zaurus came out without the Hancom suite then it would be illegal to install the Hancom suite without buying a copy from Hancom.

The dictionary reader itself, called zdic, is like its predecessor zten under the GPL.  The sources
are available.  The dictionaries are cetainly not and probably as you suggest only legally usable on the device you bought.

Any one know where to get the zsecure header files and the other sl* header files needed to compile this?

I'd like to compare it to ztenv, but it's looking for include files that aren't available on dev_img 1.6
