Sl-c860 & Microdrive Workaround
« on: March 28, 2005, 04:38:03 pm »
I am successfully running X/Qt on a 1 gig SD card with my SL-C860.

I am wondering if it is possible to take my debian installation on the SD card, copy it over to a microdrive and run debian from the microdrive.

The reason for this is it seems the only way to update debian is on SD with the CF slot free for a wifi card. The limitation, of course, is that the installation would be limited in size to the SD card.

I'd ultimately love to get the USB client on the Z working with my desktop's internet connection, but it seems there hasn't been much success with this based upon what I have read in other posts.

I haven't bought a microdrive yet; still contemplating that purchase. Would there be any speed or performance gains from running debian off of a microdrive instead of the SD card?

Thanks for your time.

Bill
