« on: January 19, 2004, 03:06:39 am »
I have tried and tried to get kismet running, but with no success. I remember reading about others having it run for them. but haven\'t been able to get it working for me? thanks.

I have it working. I use the version available on kismetwireles.net, the one with pcap. The only \"trick\" I need to have it working is (but this might be my wlan card) I have a setup with static ip, dns, gateway, etc., and then I also enter in a terminal window ifconfig eth0 up 10.0.0.1 (which is the ip in my network setup). Then it works flawlessly. I also use wirekismet, and when I press the suspend button at the back of the zaurus, it suspends, and when I press it again, it gets back to life with scanning. Very elite and exactly what I need. If you have further questions / problems go ahead.

I guess thats because of you normally have dhcpd running, which is not good, so give it a stable ip in the network tab and you are fine.

Do you have a binary or ipkg of wirekismet or tips on how to compile the source on the Zaurus?

I dont know what u mean by working but I got it to run through the terminal but I had to manually set it to monitor mode then run kismet. im not using a gui for it but running it in terminal does the job for me.

douzblec: Take the wirekismet - ipk from its homepage. Then un-ar it, and grab the binary from the data.tar.gz and simply copy it to your zaurus. You only need that one binary. With wirekismet, you can set monitor mode, start server, etc., its really great.

If you start kismet from the terminal, then, indeed, you have to start kismet_monitor first, but I thought thats clear.
