3.5.3 Upgrades
« Reply #75 on: September 06, 2005, 05:35:29 pm »
Hi,
I'm looking for an upgrade of the 'aircrack' package
It is now available in version 2.3.x and in the feed there is still only version 2.1.x

Would be very nice.

(moreover it would be nice if somebody could port 'sox', which is not yet in feed)

Thank you

Ok.   Here's my attempt at a patch versus the repository openzaurus-pxa-2.4.18-rmk7-pxa3-embedix-r41 ...

I haven't tested it yet, it's late. and I'm not really a developer, but I've written lots of code in the past...

zImage of my attempt at backporting

I based the patch off of what was in the collie r22 directory.  Luckily the structure of the files look very similar so I just made it.  It compiles, that's about all I can say at this point.

I'll try my hack sometime tomorrow if I have time, anyone else willing to try before then, it's there with no warranty.  The stuff I did to patch sharpsl_apm.c is there too, it should look fairly similar to the patch in collie-r22.

This only is an attempt to fix the suspend issue, but not the right arrow/button issue.  I can live with the right arrow problem (I dont play games on my poodle), but having broken power management, that is just not a PDA!

(Delete this post if some more official patch is available, this is just stopgap...)

Hi Hrw,

Thanks again for your good work !!! Is there any chance of having lirc package working in OZ ? I have been trying to make opie-remote working for ages with the package from http://www.purple.dropbear.id.au/downloads/zaurus/lirc/ but it can't manage to make it working as it should...

Thanks in advance for your answer

I'd love to try a working package for gpe-nmf...
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=75731\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

Will do this as soon as I have time - in the mean time, there's gxine in the upgrades feed, which does a much better job, last I checked.
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=77087\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

I just installed gxine from the feed "3.5.3 upgrades" onto my Collie 5500.
MP3 playback works (albeit with some problems - see below).

I had following problems:
* GPE is auto-logged in as an user and gxine would not play any audio, because by default /dev/sndstat, /dev/audio* belong to root and have permissions 660. Needs to be fixed in /etc/device_table and rebooted.
* No video playback (mpeg1) out of the box (audio plays fine). And no prompt about this, just the blank screen. May be gxine needs some special packages for the video playback... I saw there is dxr3 xine vo, is it applicable on Zaurus?
* Attempt to playback ogg resulted in "Segmentation Fault"

One more thing that is not clear to me: all the modules for gxines are small, IMHO all of them can be packaged into single package (even the gxine itself). Some of them will not be used, but it would ease life for many users (the only thing that matters at the end of the day).

Wrong thread - this is not a bug-tracking thread, it's thread in which you can request a given package to be built from OE and added to the feed.

This post should be in the bug tracking thread for 3.5.3.

If I could work out how, I would move it there myself.

Ok, I have a request for this thread as well:
I see that package at is not packaged in any of the OZ feeds, only atd is. And without "at" it is useless.
Can "at" be packaged as well please?

Regarding the gxine, can you point me to the proper thread, so as I would repost the bugreport there?

Though you'd be better off flashing one of the RC builds and adding it as a bug to the bugtracker: http://bugs.openembedded.org as 3.5.3 is old now.

More specifically those using GPE, so as non root user... users of OPIE souldn't have noticed a problem.

Thx for the correction.

updated:
- apm 3.2.2-r6

this release fix all users (especially those which do not use root account) problem with suspend/resume. If any of you had a problem like Zaurus suspends but not resume then this version will fix it.

3.5.4-rc1 users should also install it. Same for 3.5.4 "Hrw test images" users.

I hope that most of you will find this fix usefull :)

I just tried the upgraded apm on my 5600 and apm crashes during suspend. Here is the output from logread:  [ Invalid Attachment ]

This has beed submitted to the Oe bugtracker as bug #634

I hope this helps track down the problem.

I upgraded my poodle running 3.5.4-test image & still the same - OPIE seems to lock when I hold down the cancel button to try to suspend. Does anybody else experience this? I'll search the buglist & see if it's there already. thks
