Oz 3.5.3 (gpe) Internationalization
« on: April 26, 2005, 04:04:30 pm »
Hello everybody

I would like to be able to read / write texts in greek (and also french/german) while using rxvt.
Is there a document describing the necessary steps to accomplish this?
E.g., installing fonts, changing locale settings, installing an applet for changing the keyboard layout etc.
(the bitstream vera fonts included with OZ include greek glyphs but still greek characters show up in rxvt as question marks).
I am using OZ 3.5.3 / GPE.

I would be grateful for any pointers.

Oz 3.5.3 (gpe) Internationalization

Some more info:

I have installed all related "locale" packages such as glibc-locale-el, glibc-localedate-el-gr+euro, gtk+-locale-el, localebase-el-gr-iso-8859-7, localedef, and also sylpheed-locale-el, mutt-locale-el. I tried also setting env variables LC_CTYPE and LANG to el_GR. Whatever I tried, I get the same result:
- in mutt greek charaters in message subjects appear as "?" and in message bodies as escapes ("\303\355...")
- in syplheed greek characters do not appear at all.

It is strange since "Bitstream vera" should contain greek glyphs (unless they have been removed because of size? - I doubt it).

I would appreciate greatly any help.
