C1000 Battery Charging Never Stop!
« on: April 27, 2005, 08:59:34 am »
I've just got myself a c1000 yesterday,  and battery is charging for last 20 hrs and still goes on according to battery applet. I'm using EA-70 (from my old SL-5500) and it's rated 2A @ 5V, should be plenty of juice to charge the battery, right? The same charger works fine with SL-5500 and charges its battery full in approx. 2hrs. WTF?

I'm gonna try EA-72 and another 5V charger I have, but I doubt it would be different... Have anyone seen the same charging problem with their c1000/c3000?

Nope, I'm using an EA-70 supplied with my SL-C3000 as standard by TriSoft and it works fine.

One possible thing is that the voltage is too low.... This happens for me while on USB power...
Gorgeous C860, 256 Sandisk SD, 1Gig Pretec 40x CF, PDAIR leather case & the really cool retractable iPDA USB sync/charge cable. Powered by PDAXROM BETA 1.

My wish - to have a Command & Conquer style game on my Z! (FREECNC!!!) Simcity 2000 would also be great.

I don't ever get the charging light going out when I'm using the device. Have you tried turning it off for a few hours? If you've had it plugged in constantly then it shouldn't take too long for the light to go out after the unit is off.

I get this behaviour no matter what unit, charger, or country I've used them in, so I'm assuming it's pretty normal.

my SL-C3k takes a really long time to charge. at least 5 or 6 hours till the light goes off.

Another thing that bugs me is that the battery applet doesn´t show how much juice is really left.  i get the low battery warning at when the applet says 1/2. and i know that by the use i´ve given it, it might be possible it really spent it´s battery.

Is there another way to find how much battery is left? maybe with another program?

thanks.

I checked yesterday on my C-1000 that charging light issue.
On its first ever charge I left it charging while using it and suspending every now and then. The light was always on and when not suspended the battery showed charging continuously.
Left it charging the whole night, and this morning the light was out. After many hours, but eventually it goes out. Weird?
My 2 cents.

You know, I never noticed that before, but I think you're right.

I can have it fully charged and the light will be out.  The second I slip in a WiFi card, the light goes on and stays on.

I got mine yesterday, it charged up and the light went out, but as soon as I turned the device on, even with the PSU plugged in, the charging light came back on again.

Somehow managed to fix this weird charging problem by recompiling the kernel. Now battery charging starts and stops as expected.
