Just got my C1000 from Pricejapan! Im so happy... some questions!

1) I was wondering if there are best practices for charging! for how long did you let yours charge the first time? Should it be turned on or remain turned off while it charges?

2) are the conics.net english convertion instructions valid for the C1/3k's as well? or there is another page with new instructions?

3) one more thing, do you think I can benefit from the tetsu kernel?

4) finally, which are the most recent versions for the bluetooth drivers and the mplayer (kino2?)

I bought the C3000.

I let mine charge over night not because i should have or because it said so, it's just that dinner took longer than expected that night.  

I used the conversion from trisoft.de.  it even includes de K/A Pi PIM software and the latest sharp music player v2 (i'm not totally sure about the player though, but the PIM software is in)

I haven´t been able to get mplayer (kino2) to work.  Partly because i´m a linux n00b and because i´ve been too busy to play with my toy (I´m quite sure a large majority of us users out there refer to it as a toy rather than a work tool, am i right???).

My C1000 is still charging - second day and counting... I think something might be wrong. Can someone please post the output of `cat /proc/driver/battery/chg_status` from c1000/3000 when it's charging and not.

If it is turned on, the c1000 will charge forever. If suspended, the first time I think it took 3-4 hours, now it takes 2-3 hours (I think, I never let it discharge fully since then, from what I've seen li-ion batteries don't like that).

Interesting... On SL-5500 charging was turned off once fully charged both suspended and resumed. Dunno why Sharp changed it. Wouldn't it kill your battery faster if it's charging constantly?

What I think is that the new charger is a lot weaker than the one on the 5500. The one I got with my C1000 is rated 1A, the one included with the 5500 is rated 2A. It might be that the charger can't fully charge the battery if the screen is turned on.

Well, but I'm using the old SL-5500's charger that is rated 2A @ 5V. Also my screen is turned off completely (LCD controller is power off), so that must be something different here.

Hi everyone,

just for info about the chargers:

EA-70: World-charger 110-240V for EU and US.
EA-72: Japanese type, don't use outside Japan.

EA-70 should charge a SL-C1000/3000 first time in
about 5 hours. The charger led should go off if fully
charged. If the unit is turned on while AC is plugged,
the LED will never go off.

The EA-70 charger is the one SHARP supplied with all
Zaurus models outside Japan (SL-5000/5500/5600/6000).

So if the LED stays on, even with the Zaurus powered
off, something is wrong with the charger circuit or
the battery.

Please use the forum search function for a lot of threads
regarding ac adaptors and charging problems.

Silly trivia: The EA70 1A adapter isn't enough to charge the 5500 while it is running - the charge light will flicker on and off randomly. If it's off, it'll charge just fine.

I just got a C1000 a few days ago and foolishly ran it for a couple of hours (to shutdown warning) before charging it with the EA70 from my 5500 (isn't ignorance bliss?). I was a bit gutted that it didn't get power via usb like my old 5500 did - Shame.

The battery level only goes up to 75% now...I assume I have screwed it and need a new battery? I'm using batteryplus_1.1.6 and am not overclocking.

It also seems to loose power very quickly on standby - it lost 25% last night in 10 hours. Is that normal? I had the same problem with my 5500, but I assumed it had just had seen hard use before I bought it...

I can confirm that with my c1000 charging light will eventually go off when unit is connected to mains and suspended, and it will never go off if it's not suspended, like Marc mentioned before.

That still bears a question - if I leave c1000 connected to mains and not suspended for days, will it ruins my battery wih overcharging?
