Impressive specs, but ... UGLY - and most likely they'll want a small fortune for it.

Personally I can't see much use for that, except as a sofa-side uber-remote with surfing and messaging, or one more thing on my cluttered desk.  

It's too big to be a pocket/purse/lanyard/belt commodity.

Even so, I'd pick it up for half of MSP once the company goes belly-up.

I e-mailed them a few months ago asking what kind of software it would support.  I have a library inventory program that runs in linux that I'd like to instal for my wife.  They said that they weren't going to support the installation of third party software.

And people wonder why "Linux" devices haven't caught on in the market.  With design choices like that, it really doesn't matter *what* the underlying system is. The thing could run WinCE for all we can do with it.

Then all the more hacker-friendly devices all run different systems and are software-incompatible with eachother anyway.

Imagine where Microsoft would be today if they would have taken that attitude with Windows 3.0. You can buy a laptop with a real keyboard and tons more features for 850 USD. Lots of luck!
