Kino2 Problems On C860

So, I have the latest Cacko ROM (1.21a I believe) and I have a 4 GB Microdrive.  I put a few movies on the microdrive.  The movies are encoded with MPEG-4 Video / AAC Audio at a resolution of 640x480.  The movies are about 500 MB large.  When I try to open them up with Kino2, the audio is really stuttery and the video just freezes on the first frame and never advances.  Any ideas how to fix this?

I'll refer you to my post below rather than repeat it regards my set up.

The earlier SD cards were not fast enough to render movies and only CF was recommended.
Compact Flash is incredibly fast, I would suspect your microdrive speed may be the issue.

Put a movie or part thereof on a CF card and try that, then copy the same movie to your microdrive and try it from there.

Then you will know if the problem is hardware or software.

If your films are 500MB, the compression must be half that I use and you may be testing your hardware beyond its limits.

I'll be interested in the results, because I considered a microdrive but opted for a 2GB SLC CF card instead on a no moving parts to go wrong basis.

Does it either way, from CF, from Microdrive, from SD, whatever.  So, it looks like I'm running up against a limitation of the mplayer software.  It is really strange though because my iPaq HX4700 runs these movies just fine.  Smooth as a whistle.  The HX4700 has a 600 MHz processor, but it also ran fine on my old iPaq 4155, which had the same speed processor and no Imageon media processor.

I guess I'll be sticking to my iPaq as my media PDA.  Thanks.
