Libqpe & Libqte Again, Sorry But It Is Different
« on: May 27, 2005, 03:52:25 pm »
I am getting the dependency error with the two libraries mentioned in the title.

I have added the machine feed and updated my list, but I am still getting the errors.

Any ideas?

OK so I reflashed, and all works, but only from the command line.

Steps to getting it to work:

1. set network up
2. add a nameserver entry to resolv.conf

the next stages are not essential but it is easier to type on a full size keyboard

3. change passwd on the Z
4. start network on main box (I use a script for the Z on usb)
5. ssh into Z (I use ssh 192.168.0.5)

the next stages are typed from a console on my main box but are carried out on the Z

6. add machine feed to /etc/ipkg.conf
7. ipkg update
8. ipkg install -d sd packagename (I always use froot as my first package and put it on my sd card)
9. ipkg-link add packagename or ipkg-link mount /media/card/packages
10. /etc/init.d/opie restart (to encourage opie to put icons on the desktop tabs)

opie-packagemanager and opie-aqpkg just did not work nicely for me, too many errors.
Usually unable to find file, or unable to link file or libqte2 and libqpe1 errors.

However all is now right with the world, but it was lucky that I'm not a newbie or the Zaurus fraternity would have been minus one member.

It was the one with libqte2 and libqpe1, the one that is fixed by adding machine to the ipk.conf.

The problem is now resolved, by reflashing and adding the required lines before I started to play with the system.

It may have been that there are slight differences between ipkg.conf for opie-packagemanager and opie-aqpkg. The first thing I did first time round was to get rid of package manager because of my poor previous experiences with it.

This time round it appears slightly more stable, but it really doesn't like you removing or adding large numbers of packages at once. Three or four appears to be a safe limit.

Sorry I should have added a message saying I had resolved this.
