Ipkg-link doesn't do anything. You still have to reboot to get FUNCTIONING icons and you still lose the linkage after installing another app so there's no point to doing it. The feeds create a folder called "packages" on the SD card and install to that - maybe that is part of the problem.
ipkg-link mount /media/card/packages should do the trick. I've never had to reboot to get anything to work so I'm stumped there if the above doesn't fix it.
The error after entering the word opera at the console is:
opera: symbol lookup error: opera: undefined
symbol: _7QString.shared_null
I thought I saw it was reported as a bug.
This means the compat libs are not being used. It could be that the GUI compat libs program hasn't worked, or more likely, with all of the rebooting, the symlinks from the storage card are being recreated and overwriting the compat lib symlinks. Perhaps try running makecompat (name?) from the command line and pointing it at the <mount point>/opt/QtPalmtop/bin/opera binary, that way the compat symlink will be automatically symlinked by ipkg-link rather than overwritten.
I can't send or receive email with an installed OpieMail. I have both my Zauri side by side here and the settings are exactly the same and I can send and receive mail with the Z that has the Sharp 3.13.
No idea about this - does it produce any more info if you run it from the command line?
Okay, you want details:
I installed ZUC (from the feed) - got icon but no function when icon was clicked. REBOOTED the Zaurus (not a matter of just restarting Opie) and then ZUC functions fine. Next, install JustReader off the feed - get icon with no function when clicked AND when you click on ZUC it no longer works EITHER so....you have to REBOOT the Zaurus and then both ZUC AND JustReader function. Next, install Shopper from the feed - get icon and when you click on the icon IT WORKS!! BUT now when you click on ZUC or JustReader, THEY no longer WORK! So.....you have to reboot AGAIN and then all 3 apps work, but if you try to install something else, you have to go through the whole routine again. Is this any way to run a ROM??
Curious. Try running from the command line if the icon doesn't work - that should give an idication of whether the binary can't be found, or some other lib has not been ipkg-linked (which may happen after a reboot I suppose - not all that sure as I don't reboot very much).
To top it off, 1 out of 2 reboots results in a hangup where you have to do a HARD reset - not a SOFT reset which makes you tend to not want to install anything out of fear. ohmy.gif
I never had the hangup-suspend problem before with the Sharp ROM and I've had the Zaurus at least 2 years. It also kept the right time!
The double reset bug is a known 'feature' of the collies - with all ROMs afaik . Make sure you suspend between reboots, otherwise this is what you get.
I don't know about the time thing - though it would be interesting to see if it's a clock related problem (constant time loss) or something to do with time suspended, etc.
