When I get a new Zaurus, should I try the G2 again?

So yeah... I broke the digitizer on my Z while removing the G2 screen protector that I installed improperly.

Funny thing, UPS beat the crap outta my new one\'s box and it has the same problem. Next time I\'m going with FedEx... After UPS replaces this one.

When I get my new SL-5500, should I try installing the remaining G2 or should I go with a different type of protector...

I worked at UPS for about 1 1/2 years (1995 - 1997). I can tell you that I never ship anything that can get damaged any way other than 2nd day air.  Trust me on this!  On the air sort, packages are treated very nicely, ground sort is very different.  One thing to be aware of though, if the destination is within about 75 miles, 2nd day air will go to the ground sort anyway.  Granted that was about 7 years ago, but I doubt things have changes much.

If you\'re really concerned you can disassemble your Z, place the protector, then reasseble it.

Last time I had mine apart that\'s what I did.  If you\'re not going to do it that way you might want to just buy the stick on kind (Brando I think is popular), because is it really worth risking the depression that would follow after a 3rd broken screen...

UPS leaves expensive stereo equipment from Crutchfield on my porch and it gets stolen. UPS broke a custom made bracket for an aftermarket steering rack for my race car... (How exactly you break welded steel parts via shipping is beyond me.) ANd now UPS has broken my Zaurus digitizer...

Anything I ship will be going out FedEx from now on... There is only one thing I equate Brown with.

Is that during install, or does it wreck the digitizer at the
edges where it\'s wedged up against the case?

It \'can\' damage durring install but it can also cause damage in removing and in day to day use.  And the worst kind is when you get something abrasive like ceramic dust under the G2.  As the protecter lides back and forth it drags any abrasive material back and forth and digs deep gouges.
