Hi Meanie,

The thunderbird.postinst script contains a colon instead of a semicolon in line 2!

And: the xqt-debian-install.sh script creates a swap file, no matter if there is already a swap file or not. So I ended up with two swapfiles now, and have to delete and disable one manually now.

And: It seems an error occurred during download of the debian jumbo package, because the untarring of the tar.gz fails.
It might be easy to implement a consistency check either via md5sum check in the script or via a
zcat FILE | tar tvf -
and subsequent check of the return code.

...now trying to re-download the debian jumbo...

Can someone please advise....

Have downloaded files from Chuckster's webpage.

All of the files, except for 2,  check out OK with MD5Sum.

I've downloaded the' jumbopack' and 'openoffice' files about 10 times now.

Each time the MD5Sum is different than what is listed...

Any suggestions??

Thanks,

Mark

Hi Meanie,

got problems with thunderbird and firefox.

firefox:
"Gdk-WARNING ** locale not suported by C library"

thunderbird:
"/opt/QtPalmtop/share/thunderbird0.6/thunderbird-bin: /home/QtPalmtop/lib/libgcc_s.so.1: version "GCC_3.3" not found (required by /home/QtPalmtop/lib/libstdc++.so.5)"

Both programs do not start.

X itself does start nicely.

Any ideas?

Thank you

...and anotherone:

qpe-gaim is missing all its icons (tool icons and buddy status icons) after installation of X/QT. What could have happened?

The libpng fix mentioned on the qpe-gaim sourceforge page does not help here, although I get many errors on the console re. an incompatible libpng version (1.0.9 compiled for vs. 1.2.4 running).

Reinstalling all gaim IPKs does not help either.

What does X/QT (or firefox / thinderbird, which I also have installed already) have to do with that?

THanks

Okay guys, after many of you have encountered problems downloading from chuckster's site, I have set up a mirror.

I am also only on a DSL line with slow upstream (I think 128kbps), but at least I have never had any complaints about corrupted or truncated download from my web site.

So, the X/QT and Debian Pocket Workstation files are now also available under

http://www.daniel-hertrich.de/zaurus

I will leave the files there for as long as it doesn't cause me any problems (bandwidth overload, file corruption as on chuckster's site etc.).

Meanie, Chuckster, thanks for all your good work!
I'll be happy to update the files on my site if there are new versions. Please drop me a PM then, as I don't follow this thread daily.

I had problems however with the firefox file. I have downloaded it at least ten times from chuckster and had always the same md5sum, which differed from chuckster's one.
I have installed firefox myself from that file and as root I can start it now. But I HAVE problems with my firefox installation (reported earlier in this thread). So it could be that my file is really corrupt.

It would be great if someone could definitely advise if my file is corrupt or not, and if it is, provide the correct file!

Thanks

A few questions please about JumboXQt/Debian....

Have it installed and it appears to be working OK....however....

1) When I click on Debian icon to start it, I get 'fatal error' message
-But I can launch Debian from Konsole, 'xlauncher debian' with 'su -'

Why 'fatal error' message and what to do about it?

2) When I first opened Debian, I got iceWM bar at top of screen and that nice Debian background image on display and a transparent 'x-term' window.

Now each time I open up Debian I get a plain blue background and bar is at bottom of screen and the 'x-term' window that opens at same time has a different background image than the time Debian opened before.

Why has this background image and bar location changed?

3) As noted previously by Perseus and myself, you can't type a '/'. This makes it extremely difficult to navigate to different directories or use firefox, etc.

How to fix keyboard mapping issues?

Other than the above issues, Debian works great...and thanks again to Meanie for these packages and Chuckster for hosting them!

Thanks for any and all help!

Hello Meanie,

one problem with the Debian install script:

it does a
ln -s /etc/rc.d/init.d/mntloop /etc/rc5.d/S50mnt
and a
ln -s /etc/rc.d/init.d/mntloop /etc/rc6.d/K50mnt

both failm because /etc/rc?.d do not exist here (Cacko 1.23beta1 on SL-C3000).

I had to do manually after install:

ln -s /etc/rc.d/init.d/mntloop /etc/rc.d/rc5.d/S50mnt
ln -s /etc/rc.d/init.d/mntloop /etc/rc.d/rc6.d/K50mnt

Just FYI and for all who plan to install the package on a similar system as mine.

I too am getting a 'd' when I hit the '/' key.

xev says that both the 'd' key and the '/' key are returning keycode 47.
setxkbmap says that xkb is not an extension of the current display (ie not loaded with X)

I am running the loopback version of Debian.
I am also using Meanie's keyhelper.xml from his myZaurus site.

When I disable keyhelper, the '/' key works properly in debian.

I can easily add an icon that starts and stops keyhelper, or just remove the '/' ',' switch. But there must be a way for the two to live in harmony. Any Ideas?

If there is no xkb extension (I don't know how X could live without it), how can we reassign keys under pocketworkstation?

BTW: Meanie is a god!

xlauncher tries to bind /mnt/cf to $DEBROOT/mnt/cf by first looking to see if hdc1 is mounted. My memory betrays me as to why, but some of us mount our CF cards on hda1  (it made for many headaches early on).

Hallo,

i have the following problem, when installing xqt-gtk-jumbopack_0.4.3-0.6_arm on my c3100. after installing a message appears saying that some files couldnt be installed and then comes a message which says that i should deinstall the app if it doesnt work. after reboot also no XQt tab appears. i have downloaded the file about 10 times now... but it doesnt work. i am also not able to download zaurus-debian-jumbo-v18-b01.tar.gz because it says after a time that the download is finished but the file had sometimes 17MB and sometime 89 MB... but it should have 94MB. i checked the checksum of the xqt-gtk-jumopack and it is alright... so the file is alright. i read that there is also a possibility to install the package via the console... what command is it?

what should i do? pls help.

Cheers,

Have you tried downloading from my site or from Chuckster's?
If from chuckster's please try mine: [a href=\"http://www.daniel-hertrich.de/zaurus]http://www.daniel-hertrich.de/zaurus[/url]
If from mine, thanks for the problem report. Then we know my site is also not reliable for large file download! :-)

oh... just now i edited my previous post. i downloaded from both pages... i checked all file's checksum. nearly all files are ok on both pages... but zaurus-debian-jumbo-v18-b01.tar.gz is not ok. i downloaded it about 5 times on every page... but it stops @ 89MB or 17MB instead of downloading the whole 94MB.

anyway, like i edited in my last post the xqt-gtk-jumbopack i downloaded is ok (checked the checksum) but i am not able to install... about 5 mins after i install it, a message appears saying that some files couldnt install... after reboot no Xqt tab appears. i uninstalled it again and need to know the right command for installing it from the console, pls.

daniel, your name sounds as if you would be a german (and .de of your page tells it also). i am from austria... so would it be possible to pm me in german? i think it would be easier for both of us . thanks in advance!

ok got it.... just "ipkg install" and then the file.

i am trying to install it now... i'll report if it worked or not. now console says "Unpacking xqt-gtk-jumbopack..." which sounds good.

edit: now its "Configuring xqt-gtk-jumbopack..." and it sounds even better

edit: (not so nice):

X/Qt installed sucessfully.
Done.

after reboot the icons still didnt appear. so am i low of space? the installation again took about 5 mins.  does the package not install onto the microdrive of the c3100? there would be enough space... and it would be the place i would like it to be installed. but what should i do?
