Sorry everyone - I've found that if I use the x icons in Qt, debian will launch.  So, problem solved.

I installed the new CRAMFS images. From the old images, unfortunately the biggest problem I got is that somehow the X/Qt icon is not appearing in the menu window of my Sharp Zaurus SL-6000L. This kind of makes it useless as the screen will only occasionally show up as the foreground window, and even then once you tap out, you've lost the window forever. Any ideas on getting the icon back?

Could you be a bit more specific since I don't have a 6000, I am getting a bit lost here with your problem. A screenshot would be a nice and easy way of showing what's wrong so I can hopefully fix it for you.

Well, actually I figured it out. For some reason Xqt.desktop was missing the first line ([Desktop Entry]). Thus no icon was appearing for the window. Weird.

argh, typo in the setup script. this only affects 6000 and 5x00 models.
as mentioned by soundwave106, you can easily fix it by editing /home/QtPalmtop/apps/XQt/Xqt.desktop and add [Desktop Entry] to the beginning of the file.

your new automounter locks up the c1000 on a fresh install...anything i can do to eject sd?

Hi all

I've just installed the cramfs on my 1g compact flash ext2 formatted

all seems to be ok with acceptable loading speed

openoffice needs 3 minites to load and one more minit to open a new text file or spreedsheet but one loaded it is ok

as i have i c860 after a reboot or ejecting the cf i mount manually from the console the 3 cramfs
xqt; xqt-apps and openoffice and then it works fine

what i would like now is to have a bigger and bold font size on xqt to work confortably (same on cacko)
do you knew guys how to do ??

cheers

yeah i got that figured already.  i started unmounting the sucker myself and works fine.  Im having problems running xqt office.  what other file is needed to run.  says i need debian.

another thing.  I couldnt figure out how to remove any of the old files.  So updating was a pain in the butt!  I had to start off fresh.  I am ...how ever as suggested by meanie, rerun new script and leave the old ones alone.  also updating automounter first.

okay--installed over the old install and also new automounter...works fine and also xqt office though it takes a long time to load.  the option of having it is well worth it

Hi again.

For some reason the Qt file explorer can't write to the sd card (with ext2) on which debian is installed.  It told me to check that the sd card wasn't "locked" - and it isn't.

Thanks
Gary

HI ALL

Meanie

1-can upload the ipk of xqt-openoffice (without installing debian) for those who prefer to use the xqt jumbo ipk packs instead of the cramfs

2-on more question is from which ipks have you made the cramfs of gqview,grisbi,gnumeric.. ??

cause as i have problems of mounting and unmouting the cramfs so i prefer to use the ipk jumbo packages

The cramfs and ipk packages can be mixed, so you do not have to install only ipks or only the cramfs images. You can for example install the ipk of xqt-gtk-jumbo and mix it with xqt-apps.cramfs, or install xqt-gtk-jumbo.cramfs and install individual ipks for the x applications. However, the xqt-openoffice.cramfs is too big to be made into an ipk.

I have updated the xqt-gtk-jumbo.cramfs and this is now how it looks like:

How do I send function keys?  I have the c860 xmodmap in use, but I am unable to with xev to find F8 for example.

I built vncviewer for X/qt and it works great, but I need F8 to exit full screen mode.

Thanks.

cannot install  xqt gtk jumbo crams file.  When i run xqt install, it reffers to

warning: ambiguous entry for xqt-gtk-jumbo.crams found in /etc/fstab

goes on and does not install.

this is in a fresh install by the way.

using all the files at bam's site.
