Where Can I Get A Usb Mini-a Online?

I would like to run my extrnal hard drive and possibly a small printer from a USB Hub using my Zaurus C3000

I'd like to set up my system similar to the one described at http://www.users.on.net/~hluc/myZaurus/ but all of the materials described on that site were purchased in Australia...I cannot find the corrct cables online (or the USB Port he mentions) that are sold elsewhere...yet the ones he describes that are available in Australia don't seem to be available for shipping outside the country.

Am I missing something?

In another thread I described a GoldX cable/adapter set that I had purchased.   Although you can't buy the kit from GoldX directly (at least  not online), there's a listing of  other stores that sell GoldX products online.   If you live in North America (MX/CA/US) you can try ComputerCableStore.com.

I'm still searching for the perfect  mini USB A/B => USB A  adapters, but hopefully the above information will prove helpful.

As I wanted one cable, I brought a batch of cables and I have been selling the excess cables to forum members and on ebay

The bad news is I am now out of stock, I am thinking of ordering another batch from blackbox, bigger batch size to reduce the high cost of shipping, I'll take pre-orders

IRiver, the MP3 company sells them for their music players. I bought one and used it on my old 6K and it worked fine. Sold the 6K, but kept the cable. Haven't used it on my C1K yet but do not anticipate any problems with it.
Best thing is that they are only about 5 inches long and cost $4.95 USD. I think you can find them at www.iriver.com and look deep into their accessories section.

The iRiver cables do work on the C1000/C3000 too.

Plus you could check StremlineCPUS for these cables too.
In fact they included one such cable as part of the package they sell when I ordered my C1000. It works as well as my iRiver cable.

Also when I ordered my Archos ArcDrive 20GB Micro HDD, it came with two more such cables - one smaller than all the rest (with some flexible wire in between the two ends) and a longer one.

OK, I am going to sound really thick here, but I need to make sure about this. Does the iRiver cable work so that I can hook the C3000 up to a USB port, and then play movies, music, or call other files (MS WORD, etc) onto the Zaurus? Or that I can even print files from the C3000

I ask this (because I do not have an iRiver) because I thought the iRiver acted only as a receiver from a 'puter...not the other way around.

The iRiver cable works so that you can hook a usb flash drive, usb cdrom, usb floppy, usb hub, digital camera and use these devices as you would on a PC. (Note these are only the devices I have personally tried, I assume that a usb printer etc would also work but can't verify this)

I don't have an iRiver, but do have the cable . From the documentation available at the iRiver store I brought my cable from certain iRiver devices (pmp200 for example) can also act as a usb host - hence the existance of the cable

I really want to thank everyone on this board and the software board...I have truly been tipping my toes into the linux waters when I decided to get the Zaurus rather than a Pocket PC based system...I'm used to Microsquash so I don't give it much of a second thought...I've worked with IBM based DOS's since 1986.

But in any case...you're all showing a lot of patience with me when I ask, check, and then re-check. One of these days I hope someone will take me under their wing and elmer me through when I actually want to start doing patches and codes for things as I've seen others do on here.

Having said all that....I was at my friendly neighborhood megastore (groceries, clothes, household, electronics) and there, in the back corner, was a USB Portable cable kit with the retractable cable and the 5 different adapters...marketed here in Korea by Cosy. Looks like I am in business...I am one step farther to having my own movie library to watch on the 16+ hours its going to take to get back to Edmonton this summer.

Now if I can just find one of those battery operated usb 4-port hubs I'll be really excited.

Welcome from a former (and still parttime DOS user). As such you will be much more pleased IMHO with this linux-based "Personal Mobile Tool" than any Microsoft-based PDA that you could find.
As for this cable from iRiver that I mentioned it is a mini-A I believe, to a female full-size USB connector. The fact that it is a female is what enables it to be used as a connection into a host system (Your Z), just as if you were plugging a full-size male USB connector into your laptop. With the Zaurii and other mini-USB ported devices you have to be really careful about the mini ports because the differences between the A and B connectors and prots are very slight, and in some cases though I think the A may fit in a B port, (I could be bassackwards here, sorry), it would not function as required.

Sorry I can't be more certain in my distinction between the A and B ports and connectors but the bottom line is be careful that you are buying what you actually need. The iRiver cable, as well as the short cable offered on www.conics.org for the CxK devices are the correct ones.

With the Zaurii and other mini-USB ported devices you have to be really careful about the mini ports because the differences between the A and B connectors and prots are very slight, and in some cases though I think the A may fit in a B port, (I could be bassackwards here, sorry), it would not function as required.

Actually you're absolutely right and I had forgotten about that. Haven't had my C1K for that long, and I am used to using the Zthin cable on my 6K for syncing or connecting to XP.
That's another thing I enjoy about the CxK devices, is the ability to have the CF card seen as just another drive on XP as opposed to using the proprietary sync software that the 6K required.

The other great thing about this forum is that there're so many people on it that are smarter than I am

Actually I found that site, but that site simply shows you who sells it online. Places like Best Buy, Future Shop, etc. and they don't ship to Korea. When I go back to Canada this Summer, if I don't already have it, then I will get it there.

I think I will check out ebay.

The unit is well under $20USD (I think I paid 17 for mine from PCSound.com).  I would think shipping to Korea would triple the cost.  In any case, I know Best Buy-type shops don't ship overseas, but have you considered any of the smaller retailers?  You may actually have a better chance at shipping with them, albeit at a high cost.
