Battery Issues On Sl5500
« on: June 10, 2005, 06:33:34 pm »
Hey guys..

I don't know what's happening, but after charging my SL-5500 battery (EA-BL06) and turning it off for a whole day, I can't operate it again unless I charge it again.  I'm wondering if the battery is still being used even after turning it off.  I'm not shutting down from the shutdown application in the PDA. I'm just holding the cancel button down to turn off the PDA. Could that be it?

Anyone have the same problem?
I am currently testing out my other battery to see if the same thing is happening.

Thanks

If you do in fact have a second battery I would recommend charging the one giving you trouble and taking it out of the z for a day, then put it back to see if it is even holding the charge.

If you don't have a spare just leave the Z plugged into the charger when you remove the battery.

There is a fixed rechargable NiCd battery inside the Z. If the NiCd gets flattened it will be charged from the Li removable battery and flatten the Li one.  Maybe this is your problem. The manual says to leave the Z on charge for 24hours when first used, this is to ensure the internal NiCd is charged.

Just an idea.

Cheers,

Colin

The NiCd battery is so small that it could charge a few dozen times off the main battery before killing it. There was a pic of it on the forums and I can't find it right now. but it is mounted on the reverse of the SD socket.
