Many Zaurus Q\'s: Compat, PXA-25{0,5), WiFi, SD
« on: January 28, 2004, 08:17:41 pm »
Hi, I\'m going to buy a Zaurus soon, SL-5600 unless convinced otherwise.
I\'ve only owned Palm or WinCE based PDAs, but been a Linux user for a couple years...
I\'ve heard some stuff about the SL-5600\'s PXA-250 processor, and the new PXA-255 ones. I havn\'t heard what\'s bad with the 250. Is it slower? Does it crash often? I\'m mainly worried about if it\'s slow or not, and how big a deal it is (255\'s are quite rare).

Will cheap WiFi cards like this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...bayphotohosting
work fine, or is it recommended to go with the name brands? What about SD network cards, are they compat?

Does anyone have any more reason to get a Sl-5500 over the 5600 besides price?

thanks

Forgot a couple things.
Is 256mb added to the default somewhat sufficient? i.e., anyone have any idea approximately how many programs could I fit with that (yes I know it would vary a lot)
Right now I have a 128mb but that sounds too low, I hope 256mb would do.

Also, relating to the WiFi SD question, the SD slot is SDIO correct?

The SD slot is not SDIO. Please search the forums, lots of answers to your questions.
