Qpose On C3000
« on: July 09, 2005, 05:19:36 pm »
I really want to have my old palm apps running on m new Z (since I gave away my old Zire 31 to my brother).
On the other hand I read all these horror stories of the QPOSE running and heating other Z models.
So has anyone tried this with any success?
Also if it was successful how was the speed?

It works and it is ok speedwise if you dont switch to other qt apps or have musicplayer playing mp3s in the background. The display resolution is also not the greatest.

Ok here is my report on qpose for anybody who is interested.
I installed the data and bin (first data then bin as described in the tutorial at http://zaurus.kruss.com/software_sharp.php).
Then I have put the Palm IIIC rom and it launched fine (very slow but fine).
After playing a bit with the program (pretty slow but not too bad) it felt like it was getting slower so I exited the app and rebooted.
After a reboot qpose stopped working (when launching from the menu it just changes to portrait ,waits a while then exits back).
When launching from console it complains about a few missing libraries in QtPalmtop I think and then hangs indefinetely.
At the moment I got it removed.

- Where did you, uh, find a Palm III ROM bin?
- The only Palm app I want to run is eReader, so I can read purchased books.  They keep having a free-book-a-day giveaway, which is useless without eReader, which doesn't work on the Z, and they haven't any intention of porting it.  QPose is the only solution I've found, but I've been unable to A) find a ROM image or B) find out how to download a ROM image from my wife's old, disused HandEra (Palm 4.x).
- I'd be happy for a clue.  (snicker)

Well first of all I think there is an eReader for Z that reads palm pdb books (only free ones I understand).
Second of all I just downloaded the roms from Emule:)
