Usb Host Cable For C3000
« on: July 17, 2005, 12:34:28 pm »
Hello!

I have C3000 and want connect some slave devices to it via USB. I can't find USB-host cable for Zaurus in Ukraine.
I buy mini-USB cable and conventional USB cable, cut both and assembly mini-USB to USB cable, but nothing.

Nothing in system log and no power at the end of the cable.

Where can I buy USB host cable(and get it in my country) or can I made it itself?

Thank you.

If you're interested, I still have two spare USB host cables leftover from the time I ordered 10 of them to send them to various forum members interested.

One cable plus shipping would cost around 12 or 13 Euros, approximately (I don't know the shipping costs from France to Ukraine, but given it's on the European continent, it shouldn't be very expensive for a small parcel like that...)

It is very easy to make an USB mini-A host cable. I cut off an extended cable to get a female USB plug, then I purchased a mini USB plug male, just connect pin 1 to 1, 2 to 2 etc and connect the 4th and 5th pin on the mini USB. The 4th pin is the ID signal. It is mini-A if the pin was connected to GND. It is mini-B if the pin was opened. visit:

Nice! I did consider building one some time ago, but didn't have the required (mini A USB) close at hand, so I chose the easy and safe way and purchased it instead...

Thanks for sharing the tip!

Wow!!!  It is nice to see that there are some Zaurri in Ukraine.  I am originally from Kiev, even though I am currently living in the U.S.  If you still can't find or make the USB cable, let me know (through PM), I may purchase one for you and have it either shipped or find somebody who is going to Ukraine to pass along.

The 4th pin of mini-B slave cable are opened (not connected), if you connect a mini-B to an USB famale, it is still slave!

You need to buy a new mini USB plug and get an USB famale cable from cutting an USB extended cable(USB male to famale), connects one to one together and joins 5th pin to 4th(Ground) on the mini size! Then it will become a host cable.
