C7x0: Does Screen Off On Hinge Close Work For You?
« on: July 21, 2005, 09:48:44 am »
I was looking at xev to try to trap the hinge 'keypresses' so that I could turn the screen off automagically under GPE but it didn't seem to work.

So I flashed over to Opie to see how that was going and noticed that the 'screen off on close' setting (in the light & power applet) doesn't seem to do anything so I wonder if the hinge 'keypresses' work at all with the 2.6.x kernel.

Any ideas/experiences anyone?

With kernel 2.6.11, it should work. In kernel 2.6.12, the input people broke some parts of the input API and since then there hasn't been an agreement about how to implement the hinge. We expect to come to a conclusion (in one way or another) before 3.5.4 happens.
