On Settings => "windows manager settings" => Keyboard => "command shortcuts" you can define your own shortcut key ... But it's limited to 10 shortcuts ... Is it a way to add more ?
I have read on a xfce4 forum "not ... but nobody use more alse 10 shortcuts ..." ... Sorry but the silkscreen aera need 5 shortcuts ...

Moreover, What's the command to open the xfce4 menu ? I would to do that with the "menu" key but I don't find the right command.

So i think that nobody has a solution for my previous post ...
I have seen on http://xfce-goodies.berlios.de/ that it's 2 new module that can be usefull :
xfce4-modem-lights
xfce4-quicklauncher-plugin
Nobody has re-compiled them ?

No, I don't know the answer to your previous post. If it's on the xfce-website you can use only 10, I don't think there's a workaround.

About the plugins :
If you like, I could add them. Just wait for a day or 10. If you can't wait, you can install the xfce4 and xfce4-dev packages from the contributed feed and try to compile the plugins.

Keep us informed.

Hi Chero

Thanks for the great work on this - it took a bit of fiddling around to get the panel to behave, but XFCE4 is a much better window manager for my SL6000. All the windows stay within the screen in portrait mode and I can open several items at once without strange results!

Thanks again

Is there a problem with Suspend in XFCE4?

I have the following issue, I set for instance to suspend after 1 minute on battery and only turn off LCD after 1 minute on AC. But it always does either suspend on battery or AC. Or when I go to the Light and Power settings again and reset them, then it only turns of LCD whether on battery or AC.

Why is this?

This is a big problem, because my battery keeps running out when it doesn't suspend and conversely the Z hangs when it suspends in the middle of compiling stuff or so...

Anyone seen this behavior?
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=105793\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

The problem is not suspend, it's the Z not knowing whether it's on AC or not.
When you run the "Light and Power settings"-app, it detects whether it's on AC or not and changes the settings.
This should be done automatically whenever you put in or pull out the ac-plug.
Does anyone have a suggestion how we could do this ?

I have the same problem, and I see what you mean about the AC thing - you can see it by the LED. It lights up to start with, but turns off quite quickly and from then on seems to think it is on battery.

I know this worked(still works) with the default X setup - is something supposed to be running to monitor this?

What does the various files in /proc/driver/battery/* have to say about the status?

They don't change, but that makes sense given the below...

I have discovered that loading the matchbox panel causes it to operate correctly - something there is watching for power events and calling apm. I put a debug line in the /usr/bin/apm wrapper script, which shows output each time it is unplugged/plugged in with the panel running, and absolutely nothing without the panel.

It would be a bit pointless to run xfce with the matchbox panel, and I can't figure out how to hide it away. Watch out if testing this because the matchbox panel seems to be a bit finicky and a wrong setting or kill can cause it to stop the apm events too (it takes some fiddling to get it to work again).

I have looked for a bit, but I can't seem to find what is causing the panel to do this - if we could find it, I think that would be the solution.

Also if there is any way of simply running a script at each power event, running 'lightnpower.py --loadandquit' will update the settings fine (as done in the xinitrc).

Thanks for any help

EDIT:

Does xset fit in here anywhere?

The battery monitor applet can run commands when the battery gets low - can it be set up to run a command when changing from AC to battery/vice versa?

Solution: Autostart of Applications (also in panel-systray) and Question: Autohide of panel

After fiddling around with several window-managers for pdaxrom I decided to stay with xfce4. It is the best solution for me.

While fintuning my settings I found one solution for a problem posted some time ago. It solves the problem how to start mb-applets automatically so that they are shown in the panel-systray. Xfce4 offers a way to autostart applications. You have to create a Directory named "Desktop" and within this directory a subdirectory "Autostart". When you put executable scripts into this Autostart-driectory they will be executed after xfce4 has started. I put a script there named "cards" (the name does not matter) with the content:

#!/bin/sh
/usr/bin/mb-applet-cards

and voila there is the mb-card-applet showing up in the systray.

The last problem I do not have a solution for is, that I do not find a way to show the panel again after autohiding it. No mouse-movement, no keyboard-shortcut.

Does somebody have a suggestion?

Detlev

It's probably a callibration problem. The panel should come back when you tap on the edge of the screen where it disappeared. If you are using it at the bottom now, try using it on the top of the screen. If you can get it back this way, you could fiddle with callibration to make it work where you wish.

Here's another one - does anyone else have a problem with the mouse being stuck on right click? I am not sure what is causing it - sometimes after screen dim, sometimes just in the middle of using it...

Any news about adding this package ?
xfce4-quicklauncher-plugin looks good to wait before xfce under pdaxrom support multiple toolbar ...

Hi Chero,
Can you make your site http://users.telenet.be/zaurususer/ipkgs/ be a proper feed directory?  Thanks a lot!
