Critical Apps

Hi All,

With all the different ROMs (Sharp based, OE based, pdaXrom, etc) out there and some being able to run certain apps that others cannot, I was curious to know what critical apps would make a person switch from one ROM to another.

For me, OpenOffice is my critical, killer app. I'll move to any ROM that supports it well.

What killer, critical App would make you switch from one ROM to another?

With me it's more a type of app than any specific ones. I want to have the best Reference material I can find, particularly (but not exclusively) in the realm of theology. So, dictionaries, encyclopedias, Bibles and theological reference material,  etc are my main concern.

I also like a decent word processor, a simple local database prog (using J cards presently) and spreadsheet, but I am not really too particular about which one.

I don't use my Z for the web, or GPS,  so that cuts me out of a lot of what makes many Zauruites switch roms.  I also like a few games, but not enough to make me switch roms.

I'm presently using tKc with home on SD and the Cacko updated kernal I always seem to come back to tKc after trying other roms.

pims and password encryption programs able to sync with linux workstation.  KDE pim pi covers pim and keyring is used for the later.  I never tried the pdaxrom because they couldn't get the kopi alarm working  I would like to move the password encryption to something that I can easily emerge in Gentoo.

Decent Japanese input methods, unfortunately there is nothing that even begins to come close to those offered by Sharp for the C-series ROMS.

There is Xpdf 3.0 in PdaXrom(OZ-gpe ?) and qpdf2 in OZ-Opie which are, IMHO, even better(little faster) than qpdf2 for SharpROM.
So you can take the plunge.

In general, I encourage everyone to try by themself, you will be surprised how great alternative ROM are (yet not stable).
SL-C1000 from PriceJapan(cheap and very fast shipping) with EA-70 power adapter, iRiver USB Host cable, PDAIR case, pentopia stylus, ultra clear screen-protector from shop.brando.com.hk only $3 for shipping worldwide
4GB Hitachi Microdrive, 1GB Kingston Elite Pro CF, 4GB Transcend 150x SD, Symbol Spectrum 4137 CF WiFi(low power)
PdaXrom pdaxii13 5.4.9 updated with Kkazakov13's feed. I owned a SL-6000L before

e-book reader, basic wireless Internet capability so's I can check my email etc. from a Starbucks or whatever, and a useable video player ... Right at the moment I have all of those with the latest Opie-reader and qpdf2,  my wireless card on its way here, and the latest build of the vlc player. I'd really like a 3100 to play with but that's down the road budget-wise.
